Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is more Marvel fare and delivers exactly what you’d expect, but Sam Raimi is in full Raimi form with enough of a twist to keep it interesting. It’s just too bad that it’s co-protagonist is a MacGuffin. The Batman (2022)

The Batman is the darkest take on a Batman movie yet. It’s also a familiar Batman story, with some minor updates and a few twists. It has an excellent cast, (yes, Robert Pattinson is a good Batman) a memorable score, and it looks fantastic. Does all this add up to a great Batman movie? Check out the podcast to find out. If you’re a Club Bald Move member stick around for the full spoilers after the trailer talk.

Eternals (2021)

Marvel’s latest deep cut superhero origin story movie tries to do too much with too little and ends up disappointing. There’s too much runtime with not enough plot. There are too many characters with not enough development. There are too many scenes with not enough light. Invincible S01E01 & S01E08

Thanks to Brian, we’ve got another commission this week. It’s the first and last episodes of Invincible season 1. You might not expect a bookended sampling of a series to work very well, but aside from not knowing a few of the side characters, I apparently missed out on almost nothing by skipping the other 6 episodes. Join us for a discussion of this animated deconstruction of the superhero genre.

The Suicide Squad (2021)

What a difference a word, and one excellent writer / director, makes! The Suicide Squad is a complete 360 from the steaming pile of garbage that was Suicide Squad. It’s fun, action-packed, ultra-violent and everything we would hope to see from the evolution of subversive superhero movies.
