The Artemis was built on rules. Tonight they’re getting broken. Jim and A.Ron dive into the overlooked 2018 action/sci-fi thriller at the recommendation of their producer Talitha. The three of them will discuss the highs and lows of this hidden gem. Between the star-studded cast, amazing design, and tight script, there’s a whole underworld to uncover behind the doors of The Artemis.
Robert DeNiro, playing bounty hunter Jack Walsh, chases down a man called “The Duke”. What is supposed to be an easy grab quickly deteriorates into a messy, action-packed cross-country road trip. With both the mob and the FBI on his tail, Jack must get The Duke from New York to Los Angeles in a matter of days.
Don’t blame us, we had never seen The Long Kiss Goodnight! We put this movie up on Patreon as an option for our weekly Executive Producer poll to determine what movie we would cover and they picked it over Mr. Holland’s Opus and The Ghost and the Darkness. This probably doesn’t belong in the Prestige category but we hope you’ll be willing to have a little fun with us in this Geena Davis and Sam Jackson amnesiatic-assassin movie.
We have a new commissioned podcast from bald move fan Sheldon… it’s Jurassic Park! Do the effects hold up? Are the kids annoying? What happened to the shaving cream can full of dino embryos? What would this movie look like with Jim Carrey in the role of Dr. Ian Malcolm? We ponder all these and more as we gaze into the amber orb of nostalgia that is Jurassic Park.
We’ve seen The Matrix Resurrections and the only thing we want to say is “not bad”. Seriously, we don’t want to spoil anything for you and there’s a lot going on in this movie. You might want to see it again or, like Jim, you might want to see another sequel before you make up your mind about this one, but at the very least it’s more enjoyable than either of the previous Matrix sequels. Join us for the spoiler-free podcast and trailer talk and then, only if you’re a club member, stick around for the full spoiler review.
This week’s Prestige podcast skirts the edge of what you can reasonably claim to be “prestige”,Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. That’s right, Kevin Costner battles Alan Rickman and an English accent with the help of Morgan Freeman in this film that can’t decide if it wants to be a grim and gritty retelling or a campy romp through the classic legend. Get your quiver and bow ready and check out the podcast!
What a difference a word, and one excellent writer / director, makes! The Suicide Squad is a complete 360 from the steaming pile of garbage that was Suicide Squad. It’s fun, action-packed, ultra-violent and everything we would hope to see from the evolution of subversive superhero movies.
This is in the running for the worst podcast Bald Move has ever released. One of us was feeling what this movie was doing. The other, not so much. We also struggled to figure out exactly what this movie’s thesis was. Regardless, we talk for about an hour about Liam Neeson’s wolf-based Taken follow-up.
What do you get when you pair up Steven Seagal with an apron, a playboy playmate, and the insanity of both Gary Busey and Tommy Lee Jones? You get the most notable entry in his badass resume, Under Siege. Is it enough to measure up to the likes of Arnold, Stallone, or JCVD? Check out the podcast to find out what we think.
KUMITE! KUMITE! For anyone who grew up in the 80s or 90s, Bloodsport is the best-known movie starring a man best-known for his incredibly limber legs, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Also starring Bolo Yeung as the man with the world’s largest pecs, it’s a movie that we both love and fear. Take a journey to Kowloon (seriously!) with us as we break down this classic badass movie from our childhoods.
