Jim and A.Ron review the first episode of Cinemax’s Outcast series, executive produced and based on a comic book by Robert Kirkman, of The Walking Dead fame/infamy. A.Ron and Cecily are impressed with the levels of craft employed in the latest episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, “A Blade of Grass”. And by craft we mean both acting, cinematography, set design, and of course, witch. Rory Kinnear and Ava Green both attempt to blow each other off screen in a very tightly wound bottle episode, and we’re the richer for it. Join us as we try to unravel the complex mythology being built upon this season, with a little help from the feedback of our fellow fans.
Another fantastic episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “The Door”, has a ton of the trademark shocking character deaths, and… time travel? Some of you are frightened of the possibility, many more are excited, but it’s certainly an intriguing concept that has us re-examining historical events in a Bran(d) new light. Other topics considered; Sansa’s mild distrust of Jon, the dueling Red Priestesses, a hostile Greyjoy takeover, a mummer’s farce that Arya is not too fond of, and crazy bananas action North o’ the Wall. All this and just vast, unimaginable quantities of feedback, coming right at you.
A.Ron and Cecily bid a fond farewell to Banshee as it, despite all fears to the contrary, manages to pull out of its near fatal tailspin long enough to land a fairly emotionally satisfying, and undeniably badass, series finale. We talk about the many fights, goodbyes, plus the tears and blood shed in this packed episode “Requiem”, and we give our fellow #fanshees their final say as well. But mostly, I think we’ll all remember one simple truth: A.Ron was right.

Full of intra-vampiral intrigue, our favorite werewolf being possibly bewitched by Hecate (with the good hair), surprising revelations and connections to characters and their histories, and an intriguing — and bloody — proto-feminist plot for world dominance, there’s a lot to like and talk about. Jim and A.Ron, after careful sober analysis, declare “Book of the Stranger” an awesome episode of HBO’s Game of Thornes. In an impressive display of girl power, Sansa and Jon team up to take back the North, Cersie and the Queen of Thorns conspire to take back King’s Landing, Yara helps her brother find his spine, Dany flips braziers and sets fire to many a Khal’s ambition, and Osha… well, Osha finds that there are still limits to what a gal can get away with in Westeros, but we’re mostly okay with that because it seems like Ramsey already has a noose around his neck and doesn’t even know it. And that’s not even the half of it. Pink letters, Tormund and Brienne shipping, Littlefinger scheming, and much more coming straight up.
Cecily and A.Ron are not happy with Banshee right now, and episode 407, “Truths Other Than The Ones You Tell Yourself” is a showcase for why. Proctor now is involved in federal corruption that almost literally goes all the way to the top. Hood can be snuck up on by a disgraced plastic surgeon with a wrench. Law enforcement, including the FBI, can’t track one of their agent’s cell phones. Cruz gets murdered in the first seconds of the episode and NOT by Carrie. Everyone is acting their asses off and the show still looks great, but it has totally lost it’s mind.
