Novice Pokemon Trainer A.Ron is joined by S Rank Trainer Cecily to break down the action in Detective Pokemon. We were both surprised at how straightforward a kids film this was. To be fair, we weren’t expecting Deadpool out of a Ryan Reynolds’ starring Pokemon film, but parents looking to be thrown an adult bone over the heads of their children are probably going to be disappointed. Still, it’s relentlessly, almost threateningly cute, and the more into Pokemon you are the more you’ll appreciate the universe and background details they’re packing into the scene.
OMG! It’s a movie with Sean Connery, David Thewlis, and DRAGONS? What could be better? I’ll tell you what… A movie without Dennis Quaid. ANY movie without Dennis Quaid. Especially a movie without Dennis Quaid sporting a dime-store wig and an accent to match. But here we are. We’ve seen the movie and we have thoughts.

Come watch this movie starring Sean Connery as an EM EFFING DRAGON with us! It’s also got that guy from Harry Potter, that gal from Starship Troopers, and that guy from Footloose. No, not that guy – the other guy. And not that Footloose – the Footloose remake.
As we announced last week, we’ve declared #FanBankruptcy, and are along for the ride on this saddleless dragon we call Game of Thrones. Keeping this in mind, it was nice to see this episode, “The Last of the Starks”, run back to their roots in setting up some classic court politics and intrigue, with multiple betrayals and backstabbing in the offing! Jaime and Brienne hooked up! Pod is still very much the Rod! The Stark girls won grim smiles from the Hound! On the other hand, they’re still struggling with the way they are telling the story they want to tell; characters die in unbelievable ways, and crucially characters then later live in completely unbelievable ways. With just two more episodes left, hopefully the Double D’s haven’t declared creative bankruptcy and we’ll get a few twists and turns that manage to please most.
