Bald Move Pulp - Badass Fest VI: True Lies (1994)

CHAMPION. CHARISMA. CHARACTER. These are the qualities that make a badass.
In the conclusion to Badass Fest VI, Jim and A.Ron tackle True Lies (1994). This action flick is another collaboration between James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jamie Lee Curtis plays the wife to Arnold’s secret agent character, Harry. The two get wrapped up in bluffs, twists, and truth serum. This $100,000,000 smackdown is a feast for any action fan.

Bald Move Pulp - Badass Fest VI: Speed (1994)

There’s something worse on the Los Angeles freeways than the LA drivers. Officer Jack Traven, played by all-around-good-guy Keanu Reeves, must save a busload of people from a bomb on board. Joining him is Sandra Bullock and the two will swerve their way through the dangers of maniacal men, explosives, and traffic. It’s a good time and makes you thankful for cruise control.

Philadelphia (1994)

The year is 1994 and Tom Hanks is trying to redefine his funny-man image and there’s nothing less funny than AIDS. Join us for the first mainstream Hollywood film about the AIDS epidemic starring Tom Hanks as a gay man who believes he was wrongfully terminated for his disease and Denzel Washington, the homophobic lawyer who decides to defend him.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Forrest Gump is an artifact of a more innocent age; a time before Tom Hanks learned to make fire. Before Robin Wright made binge-watching a lifestyle. Before Hollywood acknowledged that Pulp Fiction had changed the way audiences engaged with movies. Join us for the podcast to take a trip back in time and find out if this Academy darling still holds up.

The Professional (1994)

Bald Move Prestige is where the best of the best come to shine. In the Prestige podcast, we talk about serious dramas, excellence in filmmaking, and everything in between; on television or on the big screen. Prestige doesn’t cover sci-fi, but if that is your thing, you might be looking for Bald Move Pulp.

Bald Move Prestige - The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Special thanks to Hatorian, who by right of conquest in the Bald Move Fantasy Football leagues has won his prize; a commissioned podcast of his choice. He has chosen wisely, selecting the classic 1994 prison/drama/inspirational The Shawshank Redemption. This is a nearly perfect piece of filmmaking, with a confidence in pacing and direction from Frank Darabont matched by the nuanced work of the film’s two leads, Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. We had a lot of fun watching and discussing this one Hatorian. Hopefully, it won’t be the longest podcast of your life…

Bald Move Prestige - PCU (1994)

Special thanks to Josh “anubus21” Wilson again for yet another commission (he also is responsible for the recent Screamers), this time he decided to troll us by making us watch the terrible “Jeremy Piven goes to college” movie, PCU. We figured it was only fair to troll him back by tearing the movie a new one. We don’t think the movie is particularly funny, it’s message is bad, and it’s full of unlikable characters with murky motivations and goals beyond throwing the ultimate rager and wishing minorities and vegetarians would just, you know, chill already. Its lone bright spot is that mid-movie, George Clinton personally pilots the Mothership as he drops a righteous funk bomb on the film, but even ordinance that powerful couldn’t stop the monstrous Piven.

All in all, a fairly successful troll all around. Thanks for your support, Josh, and… enjoy?

Bald Move Prestige - Natural Born Killers (1994)

Jason decided to tag his wife Aime back for the movies (Transformers, Toxic Avenger) she’d commissioned for him over Christmas, by having us chat about her personal favorite movie, Oliver Stone’s 1994 film, Natural Born Killers. We found this movie to be wonderfully cast (Woody Harrelson, Juliette Lewis, Robert Downey, Jr., Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Sizemore, among others) and fully insane in it’s direction, visuals, editing, and message, and thus spent about half our time talking about the film itself, and the other half pondering the human condition. Jason, Aime, hope you two crazy love birds enjoy this commission, and if either of you start talking about being the god of your world, back out of the room slowly. Make no sudden movements.
