Special thanks to David Pavlicko and the ProjectorPeople.com for commissioning this very “special” movie, the Nicolas Cage remake of The Wicker Man. This movie is perhaps the epitome of the genre of “crazy ass Nick Cage movies”. It makes no sense, it gives Mr. Cage an excuse to act progressively more and more insane, leading up to the incredible third act which sees him reduced to screaming at Maximum Cage levels, while, for example, having thousands of bees poured down his throat. It’s breathtaking, really.
Jim and A.Ron consider “Who Won the Week?” between The Leftovers, Better Call Saul, and Fargo before Cecily crashes the studio and wraps up the season, and series, for HBO’s Girls (00:10:31).

A.Ron is back from his cruise and the new seasons of our favorite shows have begun. Lunch doesn’t get much better than this!
FX’s Fargo is back for it’s third season, and it’s visually exciting and is chock full of colorful characters played by gifted actors and we’re all having a lot of fun. But it’s also the exact same Fargo formula we’ve seen in the movie and in two seasons of the show. Is that a problem, and if it is, what will the series offer as a change or curveball this year, especially give that we weren’t all that thrilled with the UFO twist of season two? Aw, jeez. In the meantime, we discuss “The Law of Vacant Places”, brush up on the rules of Bridge, and make sure our air conditioners are properly secured before considering a bit of feedback. Tables are later flipped as Chuck employs his own private investigators in an elaborate scheme to unravel Jimmy. Basically, this episode is all unraveling and private eyes.

We are thrilled that HBO’s The Leftovers are back, and in fine form. Three years after the battle for Jardin is over, our favorite characters are still grappling with what to believe and what is real, with mysteries old and new. From the opening historical drama of The Great Disappointment to the enigmatic ending, it did nothing but confirm that this is one of the smartest, most beautiful shows around and that we are in for one hell of a ride. All this, feedback, and a very light spoiler section at the very end of the podcast, coming right up.
