Karate Kid Part III (1989)

It’s not a great movie, but it’s a great time! Is it legal? Does it make sense? Isn’t this just Karate Kid 1? How many Bonsai trees must suffer before Daniel and Mr. Miyagi repair their relationship? These are the important questions Jim and A.Ron ask each other. It’s a laugh out loud movie, and a laugh out loud podcast.
Thanks Becky for commissioning this podcast. Happy Birthday, Norm!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

James Gunn takes his exit from Marvel with the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The gang is back and messier than ever. Does this lovable group of space misfits have another good story to tell, or does the franchise end on a sour note? Check out Jim and A.Ron thoughts and full coverage for the Club Members! Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015)

Rachel Bloom stars as Rebecca Bunch, a high-powered lawyer from NYC who moves to LA to rekindle an old flame. Each episode features at least two original musical numbers. It’s relatable and funny in the way it discusses mental health. Though it was one of the lowest rated shows on TV, it kept getting renewed and currently has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s fair to say that it’s aged well.

Renfield (2023)

Nic Cage terrorizes innocents as the notorious Dracula. And the other Nic, Nicholas Hoult, is a delightful balance as Renfield, his familiar. Awkwafina and Shoreh Aghdasloo round out the cast as they bring comedy and gravitas respectively to this cult classic in the making. It has violence, laughs, and a meaningful metaphor. Sink your teeth into this First Run Bald Movie.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

John Wick: Chapter 4 is a return to form. It’s beautiful to look at, the action is fun, and there’s some laugh out loud moments. A.Ron has deemed the production design as “wealthcore” aesthetic (let’s see how long it takes for that to trend on TikTok). Jim has a hot take on Keanu Reeves as an actor. Find out more about this ultra-violent ballet of death from your favorite hosts.

Cocaine Bear (2023)

You get what you see in the trailer with this movie, and that’s a good thing. The big, messy gore will entertain you, you sick individual. The cast will have you saying, “Hey, I recognize them!” every couple of minutes. And it’s all based on a true story from the 1980s! So, maybe this is technically a historical drama? Club members, you’ll get the strangest and most hilarious play by play for this crazy-fun movie.

Bald Move Pulp - Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992)

In under 90 minutes, this movie manages to offend, stupefy, and disturb. You’ll laugh, but not for the reasons the writers want you to. Sylvester Stallone stars in this movie, and was supposedly tricked into the role. You can check out the Schwarzenegger-Stallone Rivalry in this wild Wikipedia page. It’s worth noting that one of the three writers of this movie is Blake Snyder. Snyder is the author of the best-selling screenwriting book, Save The Cat. So keep that in mind before you drop money on this while we’re already dealing with inflation.

Bald Move Pulp - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Last Crusade was an excellent sendoff, so when this movie hit the big screen, people had things to say. Fourteen years later, Jim and A.Ron are here to share takes that are still scorching hot. Spielberg and Lucas, bastions of movie magic, sparred during production…and it shows. Indiana and his crew uncover alien activity and survive a Chet Hanks cameo. Climb into your emergency fridge and hang on for this wild ride.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

Welcome to another First Rum Christmas! There’s a chill in the air and a chill in the heart of Ebenezer Scrooge. “Everything is Muppets and it’s glorious”, says A.Ron. Jim premieres his Muppet voice and A.Ron fancies one of the Muppets even before much whisky is consumed. It’s a heartbreaking and heartwarming story, and thanks to the drinks it’s also hilarious.
