Jim and A.Ron have seen the latest film in Matt Damon’s action spy thriller franchise, Jason Bourne, and find it reasonably Bourney, but missing a lot of the improvisational, desperate charm of the earlier installments, and missing a lot of its heart. Jim and A.Ron re-watch episode 103 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “Lord Snow”. Tyrion p*sses off The Wall, Catelyn defies anyone to call her a “Back Alley Sally”, Ned doesn’t play around with stage choking, and Viserys gets whipped. What’s there not to like?
A.Ron and Jim explore the virtual space of Mr. Robot’s episode 203, “k3rnel-pan1c.ksd”, and find a lot of things popping and crackling (Elliot, Ray), and others fizzling a bit (Master of the Universe Price, namely). We discuss ARGs, the finer points of error handling, and lots of easter eggs and theories before considering quite a bit of arguments from our fellow fans.
Jim’s on vacation, so filling in his spot is Cecily, A.Ron’s co-host on the American Horror Story Podcast, True Blood Authority, Penny Earful, and life. A.Ron approaches the film from the perspective of a life long Trek fan, Cecily approaches it more from the casual fan perspective, but both are in agreement that this installment of Trek can best be described as “mediocre”.
Jim and A.Ron go back and re-watch episode 102 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, entitled “The Kingsroad”. Don’t fear spoilers if you’re a new listener, we do our best to contain any such advance knowledge to our SpoiLore section, which for you worldly people that have seen and read it all before, begins at the 00:58:20 mark!
Jim and A.Ron are incredibly impressed with the season two premiere of USA’s Mr. Robot, entitled “eps2.0_unk4sk_pt1.tc” and “eps2.0_unm4sk_pt2.tc”. We do a deep dive of the character beats and themes of the episode, as well as popular fan concepts like the “Prison Theory”, before considering some fellow-fan feedback.
A.Ron and Jim review the disgusting, ill-conceived, disgraceful actually quite delightful addition to the Ghostbusters franchise featuring a cast of stellar funny women in Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy. The movie delivered solid action and laughs, a few gut busters, inspired performances by a lot of cameo actors who are clearly having a great time, and the correct and satisfying amount of respect and homages to the classic cast, including several nods to the late great Harold Ramis. So, to the dudes that hated on this film from the jump for no other reason than the fact that women had the temerity to re-make it, I got two words for you: Suck it!

With heavy hearts Cecily and A.Ron close the books on season four of Orange is the New Black, with final thoughts on the final episode, “Toast Can’t Never Be Bread Again”, as well as the season as a whole.
