This week we take a look at Ryan Coogler’s first feature film, Fruitvale Station, about the 2009 murder of Oscar Grant. It is competently directed by Coogler but the impeccable performances by recognizable names such as Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan, as well as its tragically-evergreen relevance, are what really make the film a must-see.

A couple of Netflix shows today. We’ve seen all there is to see of Dark and we’re ready to talk about it leading up to the release of the third season this Saturday. Also, we gush about the first half of season 2 of the ancient-Korean period-action-political-drama-zombie series, Kingdom.
Right now there’s a writer sitting somewhere in Georgia, maybe Hollywood, or more likely hell, thinking about what a great metaphor this episode’s tomato was. It’s probably the same writer who was self-impressed when they decided that Gabriel was an ‘A’. Both of those writers suck.
We couldn’t figure out what either meant or why we should care about any of it, which makes this episode a B+ by The Walking Dead standards.
