LWJ&A – Episode 78
A.Ron is back from his vacation and we’re ready for another lunch.
A.Ron is back from his vacation and we’re ready for another lunch.
Jim and A.Ron are incredibly impressed with the season two premiere of USA’s Mr. Robot, entitled “eps2.0_unk4sk_pt1.tc” and “eps2.0_unm4sk_pt2.tc”. We do a deep dive of the character beats and themes of the episode, as well as popular fan concepts like the “Prison Theory”, before considering some fellow-fan feedback.
Watch us record the podcast, including all the sound checks, flubs, and riveting research breaks that you’ve always wished you could see… Hey, at least you can hear the podcast before anyone else.
A.Ron and Jim review the disgusting, ill-conceived, disgraceful actually quite delightful addition to the Ghostbusters franchise featuring a cast of stellar funny women in Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy. The movie delivered solid action and laughs, a few gut busters, inspired performances by a lot of cameo actors who are clearly having a great time, and the correct and satisfying amount of respect and homages to the classic cast, including several nods to the late great Harold Ramis. So, to the dudes that hated on this film from the jump for no other reason than the fact that women had the temerity to re-make it, I got two words for you: Suck it!
Special thanks to the intrepid crew of Bald Move Commissioners who banded together to make this podcast happen; Keith Alejandro, Jen, Alex M, Matt DeRemer, Stephen, mydeardeadly, Andy G, Jefferson B, cocoa2mc, Gary Turco, Jasmyn P, Andrew K, Conner B, Martin K, and Geoffrey Bowser. Possibly the deepest commissioned roster we’ve had so far. And they had us review one of the greatest of the Coen Brothers productions, 2007’s No Country for Old Men.
With heavy hearts Cecily and A.Ron close the books on season four of Orange is the New Black, with final thoughts on the final episode, “Toast Can’t Never Be Bread Again”, as well as the season as a whole.
This is a podcast where Jim and I, using tools created for the purpose, randomly generate a title for a fictional TV show. We then pitch ideas to each other based on what that show would be like if it were real. We like to call it, “Quit Yer Pitchin’!”
And now our Watch begins. Jim and I start the process of backfilling our Game of Thrones Podcast catalog by revisiting the series premiere, episode 101, “Winter is Coming”. If you’re new to the series, don’t fear, we don’t spoil anything for future episodes, but we do have a Spoiler section at the end of our podcast for people who want to stick around and talk about the show in the broader context of having seen all six seasons or read all of the available books.
Alien 3 is a film. David Fincher directed it. It’s…not great…
Hmmm…it’s…definitely a full-length feature film in the Alien franchise. That is a fact.
Special thanks to our community commissioners Fernando Rodriguez, Flash Gordon, Jefferson B, Katie Gutierrez, cocoa2mc, pooljedi, Martin K, shockg11, Keith Alejandro, Ryan L, and jmyjnstn67 for coming together and making this podcast on the 1995 David Fincher helmed “Seven” possible. Neither Jim nor I had seen this movie in it’s entirety, though some of us were more spoiled than others. We were surprised at how well the movie held up and managed to entertain despite the various exposure to spoilers. We discuss the film, it’s message, our own bleak/positive worldviews, and much more.
