Bald Move Pulp - Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Jim and A.Ron have seen Captain America: Civil War, and they really, really liked what they saw. It was fun, weighty, maybe a bit long with the usual seeming plot holes (which comic fans can probably fill), but nothing that comes close to threatening to stop the runaway hype train that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We give you a fairly detailed non-spoiler review, before considering the many highly entertaining trailers that ran up front, and then finally, getting around to our no holds barred spoiler section. You’ll have to be a Club member to get the spoiler take, and read on to find out how you can sign up!

Bald Move Prestige - Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)

Dr. Brandon Devito has commissioned us to watch the 1997 comedy/thriller mashup, “Grosse Pointe Blank”, starring John Cusack and Minnie Driver. It tells the tale of a hitman with a troubled conscience, or maybe just a feeling of ennui that has him returning to his home town for his tenth high school reunion and coincidentally reuniting with his old sweetheart. The action is surprisingly great, the sound track is fantastic, the fashion is decidedly 90’s, and the tone is quirky and all over the place, but it only hit one of us in just the right place.

HOTD: A House of the Dragon Podcast - 602 – Home

Episode 602 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “Home”, is just a stellar hour of television. For once, it seems like everyone is on (or off?) the same page, with delights for show watchers and book readers of every stripe. Tyrion’s risky gamble, the Bolton empire rapidly crumbling, giants of all shapes and sizes smashing all the heads, there is a lot to take in and discuss and we try our level best to talk about it all, with the help of a Wun Wun sized mail bag. Don’t forget, we’re just half way through our Game of Thrones week here at Bald Move, with our SpoiLORE podcast coming out Friday, so if you have a bookish and speculative take by all means let us have it. And then, Sunday will be upon us once again. Can’t wait!

Bald Move Pulp - Banshee – 405 – A Little Late to Grow a Pair

Cecily and A.Ron discuss episode 405 of Cinemax’s “Banshee”, entitled, “A Little Late to Grow a Pair”. While there is no denying the inherent silliness of the Satanist main plot, everything else in the episode is gold. Job transforming back into JOB!, Burton taking a chainsaw to Banshee’s beleagured Amish community, Hood having fun Batmaning Brock a time or two, and some good times are had at the sleepy little country communities one and only BDSM/Satanist hangout. Sure, why not!

HOTD: A House of the Dragon Podcast - 602 – Home – Instant Take

Jim and A.Ron struggle to process the events that transpire in the wide ranging and absolutely packed episode 602, “Home”. Jaw dropping, shocking, and inspirational, there is just so much to unpack that it’s almost unfair that we have to give our instant reactions, but that’s what we’re here for! And we’ll be back Tuesday, with another few watches under our belt, and we’re sure that everyone out there has lots to say. I can’t even imagine what the SpoiLORE edition is going to be like, ye gods, but it’s going to be a fun week. A really, really long week, because if you’re anything like us, you’d give about a month’s pay to be able to watch episode 603 right now.

Penny Earful - 301 – “The Day Tennyson Died”

Welcome to the first episode of “Penny Earful”, representing Bald Move’s podcast covering Showtime’s gothic horror series, “Penny Dreadful”. A.Ron and Cecily are both high on the premiere episode, “The Day Tennyson Died”, and share our thoughts and opinions Vanessa in recluse mode, Ethan on the Lamb, Sir Malcolm’s new sidekick, and get incredibly excited for the tease of the new big evil bad guy our gang will be squaring off against. All this and of course, feedback from our fellow fans.

HOTD: A House of the Dragon Podcast - 601 – The Red Woman – SpoiLore Edition

Jim and A.Ron consider some book-based speculation and theories from the latest episode of Game of Thrones! If you’re a show-only watcher who doesn’t want any spoilers, it’s best to just skip this one. Need to catch up? Here’s a Tinfoil SpoiLore archive of previous podcasts by topic. Each link has a time code listed so you can jump right to the tinfoil topic of the week for your convenience and listening pleasure.

Bald Move Prestige - The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)

Special thanks to Dr. Ken for the gutsy call to have us do a commissioned podcast for a black and white 60’s Western film, “The Man Show Shot Liberty Valance”. Directed by the great John Ford, and starring John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, this movie is both insanely fun to watch and, believe it or not, serves as a great primer on American politics. It might just be the tonic you need during an especially intense political season. And I can’t stress this enough, this film is crazy entertaining. If you care at all about Westerns or classic Hollywood film-making, and haven’t already, make the time to watch this film.

HOTD: A House of the Dragon Podcast - 601 – The Red Woman

The first episode of season six of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”, entitled “The Red Woman”, seems to be a real controversy with the fans. Disappearing dogs, dead-end Dorne, and shifty Sand Snakes, among other things, caused the flipping of thousands of tables across the globe. What did we think? Brace yourself, contrarian opinion is coming; we’re mostly okay with how things went down. Who has time to worry about dogs when Brienne is pledging half of Ned Starks sword to his daughter Sansa’s service? Or Ghost is howling at Castle Black? Or while we’re witnessing the craziest disrobing scene in GoT history?
