We recently hit a major milestone in Bald Move history. October 12 marked Jim’s 10 year podcast anniversary, and over the summer we passed the 20 Million total podcast downloads mark. Both are worthy of celebration. As is tradition, we celebrate by letting our loyal listeners pepper us with questions both insightful and insane, and we do our best to answer them.
Jim and A.Ron have a lot to say about the second episode of HBO’s new hit series, Westworld, entitled “Chestnut”. We talk a lot about the developing characters and mysteries of the show, trying to figure out what Bernard and Dr. Ford are up to, while trying to understand the motives and mind of Dolores. Along the way, we find out surprising things about each other, like our true feelings about dusty old prospectors found lying in the street. It’s quiet beautiful, really. And hey, we got lots of feedback, theories, and analysis by our dashing and witty listeners!
It’s fitting that the worst, most disjointed American Horror Story episode (thus far!) from the “My Roanoke Nightmare” season would be an homage to the worst, most disjointed season of AHS of all time. But still, we can’t help but look forward to episode six when Murphy and company have promised this season is going to go bonkers on us. Until then, we’re having fun trying to wrap our heads around the bizarre decisions these terrible people are making, squirming at some of the inventive torture murders on display, and trying out the latest Cathy Bates accents. One more week of homage until the hammer drops! See you then.
Lots of character growth in another great episode of Halt and Catch Fire and there are still two episodes left. Can Donna recover from the latest blow to Mutiny? How will Joe handle the death of a friend? And most importantly, can the moth-plagued wardrobe of Cameron hold together long enough to make it to Japan? There’s still plenty of runtime left to get the answers.
Eric Cunanan commissioned us to watch the classic 1992 drama, Glengarry Glen Ross, directed by James Foley and based on the stage play by David Mamet. If megawatt star power (Al Pacino, Jack Lemon, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin among others), crisp, lyrical, profane dialog, and meditations on the death of the American Dream sound like something you’re into, you should give this movie a shot if you haven’t already.

Jim and A.Ron sign off for 2016 on Mr. Robot, before turning our attention to Westworld, Halt and Catch Fire, and American Horror Story. But first we have to wrap things up with some final thoughts and a bunch of new listener theories and analysis. It’s a doozy of a final board room scene in this episode of HACF, and not everyone leaves unscathed. One of the two hosts of this podcast thought this was the best episode of the show yet, and one of us…disagreed. Regardless, between the passive aggressive drama, Boz breaking down, and the Joe-like machinations of (mastermind?) Gordon, the stage is set for a rip-roarin’ final three episodes. Color us excited!
The string of solid commissioned hits is in full string with one of Jim’s favorite movies and A.Ron’s soon-to-be favorite, Primer. If you’re into noodly time travel plots and engineers talking in fits and starts about really technical stuff like we are, you’ll probably love this one.
