We’re started a feature designed to give you a more transparent look into the day to day decisions and inner workings of the Bald Move empire, exclusively for our club members. In honor of one of the all-time great series and the one that gave us our start, we’re calling it Empire Business. It isn’t meant to be a regular weekly feature, it’s more of a “whenever we have something interesting to talk about and remember to turn the mics on” kind of thing.
Lunchtime! Happy Danksgiving! Jim likes the wet look. The guys have strong opinions on IMAX and ScreenX, and honestly, who can blame them? Are you going to see the new movie Sunset Sunsquatch…sasset…ungentlemanly…sunsquat sunshart? Something like that. There’s a Bald Move get together from June 21st at 3PM EST. Put it on your calendar.
This is not a drill. A.Ron convinced Jim to read a fantasy novel. GASP! The guys are getting back into the spirit of House of the Dragon by reading Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin. Listen and read along as the book is held up to the show. There will be no spoilers for anything that hasn’t happened in season one of House of the Dragon.
It’s a slick episode of Shogun. Mariko, played by Anna Sawai, has been a stand out character since the pilot. In this episode she unleashes her full power and charges full steam ahead into battle. Yabushige is just as psychotic and humorous as before. Would he make a last minute “conversion” to save his own skin? It might be the laugh Jim and A.Ron need after this episode.
Coke? Don’t make me laugh? Meth? Kid’s stuff. Alcohol? Mother’s milk. The real threat to teenagers way back in the 1900’s was the demon caffeine. It even brought down squeeky clean, driven, intelligent young women with bright future prospects. Take Jessie here. One bad Geometry exam and she’s hitting that bottle harder than Frank Thomas. Gather your loved ones to watch this episode, it just might save your life!
Director Guy Ritchie brings his style to the classic myth in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017). With the great cast and fun design, why did it get 30% on Rotten Tomatoes? Jim and A.Ron are here to hash that out. It has bigger elephants than Lord of the Rings, but the story is all over the place. Is this movie made of the stuff of legend?
Steve and Anthony review the first episode of HOTD season 1. Anthony talks with Dr. Natalie Goodison about medieval birthing and Dr. Iain MacInnis about how medieval folk dealt with dead bodies.
Following their coverage of Kill Bill: Volume 1, Jim and A.Ron are back to cover Kill Bill: Volume 2 to complete the set. It’s an ultra-violent, ultra-visceral, ultra-Tarantino movie. Between the feet, blood, and swords, Jim and A.Ron try to dissect the enigma of this movie. Even seasoned action lovers should bring a barf bag.
Lunchtime! Let’s hope you have something better to eat than Cincinnati chili. Put on your solar glasses, A.Ron has Eclipse Talk for you. It really brings out Jim’s robot side. Find out Jim and A.Ron’s top movies over the course of their lives. When Jim and A.Ron fight, it becomes premium content. And hear YOUR burning questions on this episode of Lunch with Jim and A.Ron!
