The voyage of Star Trek: Picard comes to an end. The series had the best of episodes, and the worst of episodes. But Jim and A.Ron say this finale stuck the landing. The return of the entire cast was a good burst of nostalgia and the perfect way to end the show for those diehard Trek Heads. Though the journey may end here for Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Jim and A.Ron speculate on the future storylines of some of these newer characters.
You’ve heard Mary Poppins sing; “A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down!” Now sing along with Jim and A.Ron as they declare; “A beautiful ship makes the dumb plot line go down!” Armed with the TNG Technical Manual and decades of fanboy knowledge, your hosts try to make sense of this episode. This episode has a bounty of nostalgia. Worf continues to delight, Geordi La Forge makes his appearance, and Jack waxes poetic just like his father. Joining Geordi is LeVar Burton’s real life daughter Mica. Looks like they’re keeping Star Trek in the family. But it’s not all fun and games! Keep an eye out for those Changelings.
The quality of Star Trek: Picard is holding on this season. There are more conspiracy theories that go right to the top. Jack Crusher turns into John Wick. And A.Ron would like the record to reflect that he called the appearance of Ro Laren. Utopia doesn’t exist in this iteration of Star Trek, but at least this season is decent despite some odd dialogue.
This is not the same Star Trek that Gene Roddenberry envisioned, but there are some things to enjoy about this episode. There are some old school TNG vibes. Worf is the GOAT of the series. There’s a plot twist Jim and A.Ron didn’t see coming and Picard is getting his swear on.
