Legion - 101 – Chapter 1

Jason from Podcastica and Jim and A.Ron from Bald Move merge our psyches together to form one semi-coherent podcast on FX’s new schizophrenic superhero, Legion. Headed up by Fargo master Noah Hawley, and starring
Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Rachel Keller (Fargo), and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec), the show certainly has a fine pedigree. We found it visually striking, with excellent and appealing actors, and admired the way the show throws us head first into an electrified pool of reality-bending mystery and intrigue. We discuss the many strengths and few potential weaknesses of the show, before considering fellow fan feedback and have a brief spoilery look into the future of the show.

The New Pope - The Young Pope – Episodes 7 & 8

A.Ron, Jim, and Cecily have a round table discussion of the latest two episodes of HBO’s The Young Pope. Shocking events happen, some involving people, some involving giant marsupials. But they are shocking. Plus, people try to fool the Pope, but he ain’t having it, is killing someone as a result of fervent prayer a miracle or black magic, Voiello and Sister Mary maybe in need of a private confessional, and of course, as always, just what the heckfire is this show actually about, anyway?

The New Pope - The Young Pope – Episodes 5 & 6

When we began this podcast, we expected to have a lot of fun laughing at the crazy outfits and Jude Law strutting around chewing scenery left and right. And we were right about that, that is pretty funny and a delight to look at. But these last few episodes have revealed a show with much more substance than we were initially led to believe with the premise. What sort of revolution is the Young Pope wanting to lead? Can the Pope continue to cow heretics and Prime Ministers alike with threats of no win situations and divine retribution? Is Jude Law’s butt proof of the existence of God?

The New Pope - The Young Pope – Episode 2

Two episodes in two nights, that’s the kind of papal performance you expect from a young, virile Pope. A pope with power! A.Ron has cooled a bit on the second episode, but Cecily and Jim are still picking up what The Young Pope is laying down. Will Lenny end up alienating every practicing Catholic on earth? Will the kangaroo ever have a speaking role? And how many pontiff puns can we produce, anyway? Stay tuned and find out!

The New Pope - The Young Pope – Episode 1

Jim, A.Ron, and Cecily get together to discuss their excitement about the new HBO show, The Young Pope. It managed to surpass our already bonkers expectations we had for over the top ridiculousness, as well as surprise us with it’s heights of cinematography and storytelling. Be on the lookout for more Young Pope, and more Bald Move TV on this feed in 2017!

Watching Westworld - Season 1 Wrapup

Jim and A.Ron put season one of HBO’s Westworld in cold storage by talking about our overall thoughts, opinions, and hopes for next season. Then we consider a giant sized mailbag where we discuss scalp maps, the nature of consciousness and free will, the impact of self aware robotic hosts on fast food chains, and much more. We’ll be back whenever Westworld returns, but we never really go away. In 2017 we have an early line up including The Leftovers, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, among others. Hope we see you around!

Watching Westworld - 110 – The Bicameral Mind

A.Ron and Jim are very pleased with how the violent delights over season one would up having violent ends in the finale episode for Westworld, “The Bicameral Mind”. Sure, maybe the first third of the episode was merely review for a class that has studied their podcasts and their reddit. But once Hector and Armistice got their hands on the P90s, it was pedal to the metal until the conclusion that we found extremely satisfying. Not only that, it setup season two so well that it’s almost criminal that we’ll have to wait until 2018 to find out more. But you won’t have to wait that long for Watching Westworld, we’ll be back next week for a wrap up podcast where we’ll consider your ideas for next season, including theories, thoughts on consciousness and sentience, casting suggestions, and who knows what else. See you then!

Watching Westworld - 109 – The Well-Tempered Clavier

Many more puzzle pieces fell into place over the weekend as HBO’s Westworld deployed episode 109, “The Well-Tempered Clavier”. But there is still a lot left to uncover. Why did Dr. Ford deploy the reverie code? What is his ultimate intentions for his new narrative and indeed future of the park? What are those sentient robots doing hiding up in the hills of Westworld? And what does the Man in Black intend to do with Delores once he finds her? We’re excited to see how things wrap up next week, as we’re hoping to get a glimpse of how Nolan and Joy intend to expand this series going forward. See you then!
