Day Two – 25 Days of Bald Move Christmas!

Day two of the 25 Days of Bald Move Christmas rolls on!  If you want to stuff our stocking with Christmas cheer, drop us a line at christmas@baldmove.com or on the VIP section of our forum.  We’re open for suggestions on activities or song lyrics.  I think Dr. Ken has talked us into downing our 3 weekend…

Fargo - 208 – Loplop

FARGO WINS THE WEEK! In “Loplop”, Fargo hits all the notes; comedy, drama, suspense, without ever causing any tonal conflicts, and sets the season on it’s final, no doubt bloody, and most likely weird, trajectory. It wasn’t perfect; we felt a little uncomfortable with this episode’s timelines, and geographic orientation, which we discuss in the cast proper and in feedback, but Peggy as hostage taker, Ed as gangland negotiator, and Hanzee as the anti-Malvo were all fascinating and satisfying to watch. A.Ron discusses watching Miller’s Crossing and how it has him resurrecting his old “Hanzee as a double/triple agent” theory, and Jim gets to bask a bit in the glow of his hangman notice in the previous episode memorably paying off. Lots of praise, lots of great listener email, a good time is had by all.

Day One – 25 Days of Bald Move Christmas!

We’re excited for Christmas, and we’ve decided to a bunch of cool things for our Club Bald Move members, and this is one of those things. Each (business) day we’re going to pull a shot off the old Bald Move Boozemas tree, drink it down, and then sing a verse of “The 25 Days of Bald Move Christmas”, and then gab a bit. You can suggest activities and what not via christmas@baldmove.com or on the VIP section of our forum. On each Monday there will be bonus fun because Jim and I are going to imbibe THREE shots from the tree, and then struggle through the ensuing celebration.

Thanks so much for being a Club Member, we love all of you, and we literally, sincerely could not do this without you. Merry Christmas!

Following The Leftovers - 209 – Ten Thirteen

Jim and A.Ron were blown away by the twist at the end of The Leftovers episode “Ten Thirteen”, which we probably should have seen coming. Kind of amazing that you can pull something like that off with millions of people obsessing and collaborating over the internet, but welcome to The Leftovers! We do a deep dive on Meg and her motivations and her spin on the Guilty Remnant, her epic show down with Matt, what is going on in Tommy’s head, what’s she using plastic explosives for, tons of listener feedback, and speculate on just where are we heading towards in what will no doubt be an epic screwjob of a season finale next week. We can’t wait!

Watching Dead - A Walking Dead Podcast - 608 – Start to Finish

The Walking Dead schleps it’s way to a mid-season finale, “Start to Finish”, and we’re right beside it, covered in guts, shambling right along. Unfortunately the mid-season finale was kind of blah. It wasn’t especially good, and it wasn’t especially bad, but in the context of wrapping things up for a long hiatus, that means it’s not doing it’s job. Lots of monologing about ideas we don’t care much about between characters we’re not interested, a few really fantastic pieces of writing and performance for Deanna that are undermined by how we feel going into the episode about the character, and more sloppily staged action and set pieces. But, we’re not done! We’ll be back next week to wrap things up and try to generate some excitement for the next half. Hopefully you’ll help out. Send us your predictions, thoughts, complaints, praises, and spoilers and we’ll talk about them next Tuesday!

Bald Move Pulp - Spectre (2015)

Jim and A.Ron went out over the long weekend and treated themselves to the latest James Bond flick, Spectre. After discussing the experience itself, in which we checked out our hometown’s newest theater experience, the Eastgate Brew and View, we dish on the few charms and big disappointments in Daniel Craig’s latest outing on Her Majesty’s Service, Daniel Craig’s place in the 007 pantheon, and our relationship with the series as a whole. Massive spoilers incoming, so if you want to see this unsullied, put this pod on the back burner until you’ve had a chance to experience it yourself.

Bald Move Pulp - Stargate (1994)

Today’s commissioned podcast is on 1994’s Stargate — brought to you by Dr. Brandon Devito, official dentist of Bald Move and international man of mystery. Directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Kurt Russell and James Spader, it is a star spanning intergalactic tale of ancient Egyptian themed aliens, slip-shod archaeology, and gun toting shepherd boys. The boys ponder how movies change as we age, Emmerich’s professional toolkit, the massive flaws in both Ra’s and team Stargate’s (SG-1?) plans. A good time is had by all.
