LWJ&A – Episode 157
“Reload”, the latest installment of SyFy’s The Expanse, is an accurate title for the episode, as the Rocinante gets creative in order to literally reload itself, while our favorite characters spend the episode positioning themselves for their next act, metaphorically reloading the show. Meanwhile, we ask the important questions; what is Red Kibble made of? Why did Amos show up late to the bullet party? And is The Expanse shipping Bobby and Alex?! All this plus lots of feedback including Reddit delivering on the promise of Martian blue grass!
This is a podcast where Jim and I, using tools created for the purpose, randomly generate a title for a fictional TV show. We then pitch ideas to each other based on what that show would be like if it were real. We like to call it, “Quit Yer Pitchin’!”
In this week’s episode of HBO’s Westworld, “Reunion”, they add three or four timelines to play with. No big deal. We find out more about this “Valley Beyond” or “Place of Judgment” that William and Dolores seem to be racing towards to see who can get there first. William wants to burn the place to the ground, Dolores hopes to find a powerful weapon to use against her human oppressors. Maeve is caught in between, just a woman trying to find her daughter in this crazy ‘World. Lots of analysis, and a healthy speculation section at the end for those of you who want to out think show runners Nolan and Joy!

It took ten years of careful buildup to make the massive undertaking that is Avengers: Infinity War possible, but was all the effort worth it? Hell, yes. This is hands down the most epic comic book film ever made, and it is full to bursting with Marvel Studios hallmarks; funny interactions within the heroes, inventive and imaginative fight scenes, jaw-dropping, awesome world and universe building, and genuine character beats. The final act contains some effective gut punches that Jim and I are both more than a little skeptical of, but in the moment really work well, and can only really be judged after we see what comes next. At this point, I’m not willing to bet against Marvel.
It’s been real, it’s been fun, hell, it’s even been real fun. But as we announced two weeks ago, we feel this is our time to exit from the series that helped found Bald Move, AMC’s The Walking Dead. This podcast is for you; the long time listener! Come take a stroll with us through memory lane, say your goodbyes, and hopefully meet again real soon on better shows with better podcasts. This episode is chock full of clips from the archives, old skits, and tons of memories both hilarious and cringe-worthy from the past. Until we meet again!
The latest episode of SyFy’s The Expanse, “Assured Destruction” could be subtitled: “When Amos Meets Bobby”, because that happened, and it’s pretty awesome. After that, we have to content ourselves will small potato stuff like interplanetary nuclear brinksmanship, child experimentation, evil admirals, and the deaths of millions. Snooze! Then things pick back up when Alex makes Naomi some love lasagna. We also got some interesting feedback from actual jet pilots and physicists among others to take us and The Expanse to some light task about our discussion of high G and Amos related physics. I don’t care what the scientists say, Amos can defy gravity. See ya next week!
