Twister (1996)

Broadcasting from the edge of Tornado Alley, Jim and A.Ron have a storm report. Find out where Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, and Cary Elwes fall on the “f around and find out” scale as they chase tornadoes. Go back to a time where a lot of the cool effects were still practical and studios didn’t churn out sequels for every single hit…hold on…there is a sequel in the works. Come chase this funnel with us!

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

Don’t blame us, we had never seen The Long Kiss Goodnight! We put this movie up on Patreon as an option for our weekly Executive Producer poll to determine what movie we would cover and they picked it over Mr. Holland’s Opus and The Ghost and the Darkness. This probably doesn’t belong in the Prestige category but we hope you’ll be willing to have a little fun with us in this Geena Davis and Sam Jackson amnesiatic-assassin movie.

Fargo (1996)

Ah jeeze, for prestige this week we’re talking Fargo. Now that’s the 1996 cinematic version doncha know. Though of course, we also end up talking about the FX Series, too. We love Coen brothers movies in general and this one in particular.

That Thing You Do (1996)

It’s the 25th anniversary of That Thing You Do! It’s a whirlwind movie about the rise and fall of a fake 1950s pop band that popped right out of the Beatles mold. A bunch of young 90s names including Liv Tyler, Steve Zahn, Tom Everett Scott, and Charlize Theron are all wrangled by a very serious, but likeable Tom Hanks. We both love this movie and it’s a ton of fun so check out the podcast.

Super Serious Film Fest - The Rock (1996)

Welcome to The Rock, and welcome to the first review of Super Serious Film Fest’s “Season of the Cage”.  Released in 1996, this modern classic stands as one of Nic Cage’s, as well as Michael Bay’s, finest action movies.  It’s not quite the level of Caginess you’re probably looking for but the Season of the Cage is just warming up.  Join us next week for The Weather Man.
