Take a step back in time to late 80s cinema where hope abounds, it’s a bit schmaltzy, and the sensibilities don’t always hold up. Peter Weir directs a bombastic Robin Williams as Mr. Keating, an eccentric English teacher at a private school. Keating inspires his students to Carpe Diem, push back against authority, and explore the arts. Listen in to Jim and A.Ron as they examine their own experience with the film. And find out who almost got cast as Mr. Keating!
By the end of the episode, Jim is 100% sure that this show is going to reveal supernatural forces. A.Ron keeps it leal (ifykyk) and still defends team science. As the plot thickens in preparation for the season finale next week, we get a look into how the Wilderness is haunting the reunited adult Yellowjackets. It seems that not everyone is going to make it to the next season. Is Lottie a danger to herself and the other women? What is Walter’s end goal? And Jeff, what are you doing?
Bald Move is rereleasing this very special pod in honor of the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi! Tune in and chill out to a very special episode from the Bald Move archive.
Once again commissioner Fernando Rodriguez (you may better know him as FernNYC17 on our forums) steps up with a choice selection, this time the oft maligned Return of the Jedi. Often dismissed as derivative or childish when compared to A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back respectively, we have nothing but love for the climax of the story of Skywalker. It’s got the best space battle, the best lightsabre battle, and the best puppets in all of Star Wars. The Special Edition changes? Not so much love.
Note: This podcast was recorded out of order because we needed a live podcast we could do that was accessible and at least semi-family friendly for the Rocket City Nerd Con.
Courtney and Pete connect the dots of the subtle details in Bit By a Dead Bee. Walt takes notice of a painting that is mundane in appearance, but rich in sub-textual story. The very same painting appears in several episodes across Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. As Walt further traumatizes his family with his “fugue state”, Hank descends on Jesse with an avenging force. Could Walt turn this boat around? What does the painting mean? And will Wendy ever get her root beer?
Fast. Furious. Fun times! Fortunately your favorite hosts had a great time at the movies, and they’re here to have a great time with you, too. For one thing, Fast X delivers on all the craziness of the Fast and Furious franchise. Flying fists, faster cars, and bombs race across the screen! Fabulous villains, now including Jason Mamoa, seek to destroy the “F” Dom cares most about; FAMILY! Finally, there are some crazy reveals in the post credits scenes.
What has Walter been up to? And did he have anything to do with the discovery of Adam’s body? Is the Wilderness trying to move Coach Ben out of the way? And you can’t ask about Caligula anymore, ok?? Find out who is on the other side of that phone number and what it means when A.Ron says, “Goats are mouth curious.”
Medieval historian Valerie Garver discusses the introduction to Jojen and Meera, the political function of food, and the tragic end of Lady Hornwood. Dr. Pádraig MacCarron entertains Anthony’s fan theory about the “old gods.”
It’s time to pull back into the back of the semi-truck and put FEENY into hiatus until it’s time for our next shadowy flight through the action TV of yesteryear. Before we go, we recap an all-time classic Knight Rider episode, the feature length season 2 premiere, “Goliath”. It’s got everything. The evil Garthe Knight, African warlords, conniving widows, menacing science montages, and Michael and KITT getting legitimately jacked up in a scene that traumatized me as a youth. Can a millennial ever hope to understand the love between a Gen-X boy and his increasingly magical Trans-Am? Find out on this very special season finale of MR. FEENY!
The Yellowjackets reunite at Lottie’s Wellness Retreat Center, but there’s no wellness to be found. As each woman goes about her “therapy” in the present, the show takes us back to the 90s to show us why they need therapy. Misty is a lovesick murderer. Shauna has had enough of Lottie. And everyone gets suspicious about Crystal’s disappearance.
