This is the last installment of Bald Move’s 1899 coverage and we have some answers to big questions! It was nothing like we expected, which means it was exactly what we expected. In the spirit of the creators it was a timey-wimey, mind-bending web that Jim and A.Ron try to untangle for you. Jump in and listen to the theories and remaining questions.

1899 – S01E01-2

A dense fog sits on the water as you stand on the bow of a creaking ship. Footsteps approach from behind! Out of the fog emerges Captain A.Ron and First Mate Jim. They’re here to break down the show 1899 from the creators of Dark. Get a rundown of the characters, overview of the plot of the first two episodes, and a beginning to theory crafting that is sure to get out of hand.

Black Adam (2022)

Ok. Um, ok. Here we go. DC hasn’t quite cracked the Marvel formula for making fun movies. It begs the question, can the most charismatic man on the planet pull off DC’s latest deep cut? Black Adam owes some copyright fines to all those superheroes that you actually like. It’s not great, but it bolsters the Rock’s standing in the Bald Move Badass Hall of Fame…so there’s that!

Keep watch for the next First Run movies, Wakanda Forever and The Fabelmans!

Bald Move Pulp - The Princess Bride (1987) 35th Anniversary Rerelease

We’re rereleasing our episode on The Princess Bride (1987) in honor of the movie’s 35th anniversary!

This was a long time coming.  Jim has avoided seeing this movie for going on 30 years.  Today, he has no where to run, no where to hide.  He’s locked in a steel cage match with “The Princess Bride”, directed by Rob Reiner and based on the novel of the same name by William Goldman.  Confronted by the beautiful faces of Cary Elwes and Robin Wright, the absurdist comedy of Miracle Max, how will he react to this crazy mashup of farce, swashbuckling, and heart?

The Wizard (1989)

This movie checks off the 80s cinema boxes; it has video games and a broken home. The cast is a blast from the past in this feature length advertisement for Nintendo. Take a stroll down nostalgia road with Jim and A.Ron as they discuss a truly powerful message about the power of video games. If you enjoyed The Wizard, there is a 2.5 hour-long cut you can check out!

Thank you to Josh H. for commissioning this episode!

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Take a walk on the adventurous side as we revisit a staple of classic pulp movies. The dialogue crackles, the visuals stun, and Harrison Ford creates an icon of 20th century cinema. We have the behind-the-scenes of stunts and the story of Lucas and Spielberg’s fateful Hawaii trip. From the rolling boulder to the Ark wiping out the Third Reich, it’s a rip roaring time of good writing, great acting, and a score that soars.

Thank you to Bill Dodd for commissioning this episode!

Badasses 2022 – Rankings and Inductions

CHAMPION. CHARISMA. CHARACTER.

This is the last Badass Stream of 2022. Jim and A.Ron revisit their rules, rankings, and results. Are there cracks forming in the faces of Mt. Buffmore? Listen to the Hall of Fame museum layout plans that will be built in Los Angeles 2049 (I hope). Thanks for joining us in our Badass rankings and we’ll see you next year!

The Lost Boys (1987) 35th Anniversary Rerelease

We’re rereleasing our episode on The Lost Boys (1987) in honor of the movie’s 35th anniversary!

Special thanks to Saylor from Santa Cruz, the latest Bald Move Fantasy Football champ to claim their prize for winning the league. Emerging from the pile victorious, he has selected the 1997 vampire flick, The Lost Boys. Helmed by Joel Schumacher and chocked equally full of cool and hilarious moments and extremely questionable decisions, the film manages to confound and delight. Why is 16 year old Corey Haim taking baths and being tucked into bed by his mother? Why is there a shirtless oiled up, muscle bound sax player? Why is Rob Lowe gazing seductively from Haim’s bedroom closet, and more importantly, why is Jim completely oblivious to his siren’s call? Is the grandpa a vampire or what? All these questions and more are explored in the depth to which they deserve.
