Thanks to Brian, we’ve got another commission this week. It’s the first and last episodes of Invincible season 1. You might not expect a bookended sampling of a series to work very well, but aside from not knowing a few of the side characters, I apparently missed out on almost nothing by skipping the other 6 episodes. Season five comes to a close with an episode that should satisfy everyone. This week, Amos and Claire make their play to get off the planet before things take another turn for the worse, Naomi’s message has been received but how much does that actually help her, and Avasarala has to make multiple choices about the future of her career.
In this episode we finally get to see the full extent of Naomi’s predicament and how she’s going to survive it, or at least let the outside world know about it. It’s painful, difficult, and maybe doesn’t even work, but she’s doing what she can. We also get a glimpse of what Pastor’s new adminstration is going to look like, Claire’s positive influence on team Amos, and Karal’s corrosive influence on Drummer’s family.
