This episode, 512 entitle “Rabid Dog” turned out to be a bit of a breather, especially compared with the previous 3 of this final season. Not a bad thing, or our hearts would explode before the end. Still lots and lots to talk about, including hitting Walt where he “really” lives, the sour turn Skyler, Marie, and Hank seemed to take this week, the continued heart break of poor Walt Jr, Aaron Paul and Dean Norris’s continued excellence, Babylon 5, Walt’s room clearing ability, and much more. The trouble with setting up a season with the pace and skill that the final season of Breaking Bad has been set with is that you can’t let off the throttle without taking some criticism. That’s how I felt about 512 Rabid Dog.

Did we just watch one of the best hours of television, or The Best Ever? Jim and A.Ron debate that point as they struggle to process the absolutely incredible hour of television that was Breaking Bad episode 511, “Confessions”. All the pieces were there the whole time, hidden in plain sight. But no one saw Walt’s “confession” and the impact it would have. No one forsaw the consequences of a single boosted bag of weed. And what else is lurking out there, in two flash forwards and an enigmatic scene between Meth Damon and his Uncles of Anarchy? I sure as hell don’t know, but can’t wait to find out!
I feel like I’m watching my child compete in the Olympics when I watch Breaking Bad. I know that I’m watching something extraordinary but there’s an ever-present fear of it all going horribly wrong. The last show I can remember that sucked me in this much was LOST. We all know how that turned out……
