LWJ&A – Episode 105

Big news on the personal project front. A.Ron builds a bed. Jim designs a maze. Plus, a meetup is in the works. All this and more during this week’s Lunch with Jim & A.Ron! You won’t want to miss it *very serious music so you know I’m not kidding*

Bald Move Pulp - Logan (2017)

Jim and A.Ron are very impressed with the swan song for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Logan.  It’s a great film, nevermind a great comic book movie, drawing on our long history with the tortured Wolverine and Patrick Stewart’s equally iconic Charles Xavier to generate real emotion as these men struggle at the end of their days.…

Legion - 104 – Chapter 4

Jason is still a true believer, but A.Ron and Jim are a bit wary, and weary of the “is it real or is it all in their minds??” questions that threaten to derail an otherwise engaging season of FX’s Legion. Even still, we really dug the groovy guest spot with Jemaine Clement, and are really impressed with Aubrey Plaza’s suddenly fearsome Lenny, and are intrigued with the revelations around David’s imaginary (?) pooch King.

Bald Move Prestige - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Josh Wilson from North Carolina has commissioned yet another movie! This time he selected the psychedelic and family friendly (?!) 1971 Gene Wilder classic, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” What’s going on with Charlie’s grandparents? Is his grandpa a coke fiend? Do the Umpa Lumpa have free will? Why is chewing gum considered a personal flaw? Why does Charlie get a free pass for stealing fizzy lifting drinks? And what business does Quaker Oats have making movies, anyway? All this and much more are considered.

Watching Dead - A Walking Dead Podcast - 711 – Hostiles and Calamities

Jim and A.Ron point and laugh at poor Eugene in the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “Hostiles and Calamities”. Eugene fails at lobster, succeeds at Yar’s Revenge, blows up some balloons, puts on a wiz bang science show, and ultimate turns into the bad guy? Yeah right, we’ll believe it when we see it. Meanwhile, Dwight reaches the sad boring conclusion of the Dwight/Sherry saga that began way back in episode 606, “Always Accountable”. Also, A.Ron vents his spleen about Eugene’s direction in the Spoiler Section tucked safely away at the very end of the show.

Har Har Riverdale - 105 – Heart of Darkness

This week we reeled in a couple of live ones, including a one star review and the most patient, fair-minded, three star iTunes reviewer we’ve ever seen on God’s green earth. We also discuss some next-level ideas for similar projects, and Jim revels in his idea for a new recurring feature; a prediction segment where he just literally describes what happens on the “Next Week On” sneak peak.
