For one thing, Fast X delivers on all the craziness of the Fast and Furious franchise. Flying fists, faster cars, and bombs race across the screen! Fabulous villains, now including Jason Mamoa, seek to destroy the “F” Dom cares most about; FAMILY! Finally, there are some crazy reveals in the post credits scenes.
Oh man, it’s time for another round of Fast and Furious with F9: The Fast Saga. You already know what you’re in for if you’ve seen recent movies in the franchise but we’re here to say that this movie doesn’t disappoint.
We’ve seen Marvel’s latest installment in the never ending onslaught of comic book movies, Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and we think it’s pretty great. Some debate can be had about whether it’s as “good” as the first one, how much of the first’s success was due to the surprise delight factor, etc. But at the end of the day it’s a really, really good comic book movie, it’s fun, it’s colorful, it’s imaginative, it has the necessary emotional weight to make you connect to the characters and plot, it’s impeccably cast with tons of surprise guest spots, and, perhaps most importantly, it’s funny as hell. Jim and A.Ron loved the hell out of The Fate of the Furious, the eight installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. Great characters, great dialog, great action set pieces, fairly plausible and coherent plot (as far as these things go), and some just hilarious, Three Stooges type slapstick action comedy courtesy The Rock and Jason Statham. You either love these movies or have long since outgrown them, but for the people who can tune in to these kinds of demented frequencies, it’s top notch entertainment. The best F&F in years, maybe ever.
