Better Cast Saul - 202 – Cobbler

We thouroughly enjoyed the second outing of “Better Call Saul’s” second season, “Cobbler”. It had it all, really, and there’s a lot to discuss. We move through Jimmy’s various legal wranglings, ponder his relationship with Chuck and the complex psychology at work, witness the beginning of the end of Jimmy and Kim’s relationship, and worry for the security of her career, if not her life. Oh, and we discuss pie based erotica, you know, if you’re into that sort of thing. This plus a ton of feedback. See you next week

The Golly Gumdrops Hour With Kelly And Tom

Kelly and Tom celebrate the penultimate episode of Downton Abbey with an extra-long discussion of S6E8. They pine for an Edith: Pig in the City spinoff, shoutout Branson’s monkey nephew, lament the lost potential of Charles Blake, reveal a surprise Gibson Girl winner, decide that Mary’s bitchery is the real turn-up, wonder about Hitler hipsters,…

Black Oil and Bee Stings - 1006 – My Struggle II

Our struggle was getting through the latest episode of the X-Files “My Struggle II” with our sanity intact. We consider it a historically bad episode of television, and a real disservice to long time X-Philes. The greatest and most reliable piece of the X-Files machinery was always the chemistry of Mulder and Scully as partners in co-investigators, and the bad parts were its confusing and poorly thought out mythology that never ended with cliffhanger after cliffhanger. It stands to reason then, that this “season’s” finale kept Mulder and Scully apart the entire time and ended with a massive cliffhanger after a brutally confusing and pointless plot. Boo, just boooooooo.

Watching Dead - A Walking Dead Podcast - 610 – The Next World

Jim and A.Ron are relieved to find that they can still enjoy a legitimately good episode of The Walking Dead. This one had it all, tight writing, characters with rich back stories and interconnected personal history interacting in believable and relate-able ways, humor, family, competent and professional directing, the works. Not to mention a development we’ve been anticipating for about 3 years now. Yes, it was the elusive feel good episode of The Walking Dead, and we frankly gush about it. Join us for a discussion of soda pop, post-apocalyptic teenage angst, finding love in all the right places, and just tons and tons of Messianic puns. Plus, great feedback from the listeners, and a speculative spoiler section, safely tucked away behind our trademark wall of outro music.

Better Cast Saul - 201 – Switch

Better Call Saul is back, and we have a lot to say about the new episode, 201, “Switch”! We got all the angles covered, from fictional high end tequila to the hot new breakfast cereal, Chocobolo, hummingbird and douchey investor cameos, Kim/Jimmy relational angst, and all points in between. Plus, a lot of great fellow fan feedback and some bonus legal analysis.

Black Oil and Bee Stings - 1005 – Babylon

That certainly was an episode of the X-Files, directed and written by Chris Carter, and entitled “Babylon”. Yes, it certainly was. It also had a lot of unlikely cowboy hats, Mulder sporting giant “MUSH” and “ROOM” blinged out hardware. But unfortunately there was a lot of other stuff, which we weren’t giant fans of. Abandon all hope, ye who liked this episode and decide to listen anyway.

Watching Dead - A Walking Dead Podcast - 609 – No Way Out

Last night’s The Walking Dead had a lot of moments of genuine tension and real stakes, but it also had a lot of continuity errors and puzzling directorial and editing choices. Which is too bad because it’s central gasp inducing moment was a real bomb. We discuss some potential future story angles featuring Michonne’s guilt and some fresh juice in the Morgan/Carol arc what with Denise’s new found appreciation for the malleable nature of Wolves and question how Carl will fit in to Rick’s New World Order, and how the mysterious Kneegan could possibly threaten it all. All this, some great feedback, and a thoughtful spoiler section, coming at you!

To Pee On All My Priceless Possessions

Kelly & Tom recap Downton Abbey S6E7 with as much panache and flair as the Dowager Countess delivering an epic takedown. They try to comfort Spratt with promises of a denk-free existence, rename Edith’s magazine, miss Charles Blake, lose their minds over a puppy, recall the episode of Step By Step where JT has dyslexia,…

Black Oil and Bee Stings - 1004 – Home Again

Jim and A.Ron discuss episode 1004, “Home Again”, which is a perfectly cromulent Monster of the Week type of episode. Featuring a suitably scary, creepy, monster with a grisly M.O., it also features some fine character work with Scully, but it’s not without it’s share of problems. We discuss theories and lore around the Band-Aid Nose Man, the plight of the urban homeless, the propriety of serving on a school board sans kids, consider a bit of feedback from our fellow fans, and much more. See you back next week!
