The season finale of The Book of Boba Fett didn’t exactly wow us despite a near-hour-long action sequence that includes pretty much every character that has ever appeared on screen in Star Wars or any other cinematic universe. (I think Goofy is even in the background somewhere.) The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian marks a return to form, but we’re beginning to think that’s because The Mandalorian is the new “coolest character” in Star Wars, as Boba Fett is completely absent from his own show this week. We’re also treated to a hot rod that puts the modders mopeds to shame in an excellent cameo from the prequels.

This episode made Boba Fett look like a real buffoon. Unfortunately, that’s not our recollection of the character from the original series and there are no number of “flashbactas” that can make us ok with it. Join us for the episode for some talk about what didn’t work and why.

The second episode of The Book of Boba Fett was objectively better in almost every way. The desert scenes were infinitely more interesting, the action scenes more exciting, and it feels like it’s going somewhere.
