Bald Move Pulp - Batman Begins (2005) – 20th Anniversary Rerelease

In honor of Batman Begins (2005) turning 20, we’re releasing the classic Bald Move coverage on the film.
Special thanks to Ethan and Allison for commissioning Batman Begins, the first in the Nolanverse Batman trilogy (you can see our podcast on Batman: The Dark Knight here).  This is a fantastic comic book movie that also happens to be a fantastic film in it’s own right.  We love the fusion of gritty realism with the strong emotional core and exploration of Bruce Wayne and his struggle to walk the narrow path between justice and vengeance.  Excellent casting, excellent performances, and while the third act perhaps leaves something to be desired in light of a decade of super hero movies continually trying to outdo themselves in terms of spectacle, the movie holds up like a champ and is an undeniable part of what makes the sequel work so superbly.

Oppenheimer (2023)

Christopher Nolan’s new film is terrifying on many levels. No doubt you’ve heard of Oppenheimer the scientist, but are you ready to get to know the human being? The film comes at the issue of the atomic bomb from many angles. Nolan uses his sci-fi-esque style to breathe life into the man who would become death. If you’re looking for a nuanced look at the birth of the atomic bomb, and the minds behind it, this is the movie for you.

Bald Move Pulp - A Quiet Place Part II (2021)

We’re finally seeing a movie with the theater crowd for the first time since the pandemic started and it’s the sequel to a really enjoyable movie from 2018, A Quiet Place Part II. This time, John Krasinski is both writing and directing. How does that work out for the movie? Well, join us for the non-spoiler podcast to find out, then stick around after the trailer talk if you’re a club member for the deep dive into the spoilers.

Inception (2010) – 10th Anniversary

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Christopher Nolan’s dreamscape heist film, Inception. We covered it immediately after its initial release and 10 years later we’re back to do it all over again. I assume we’ll hit level three in about 90 more years and come back from limbo to cover it one final time, but until then check out our 2nd podcast review of this film.
