As we announced last week, we’ve declared #FanBankruptcy, and are along for the ride on this saddleless dragon we call Game of Thrones. Keeping this in mind, it was nice to see this episode, “The Last of the Starks”, run back to their roots in setting up some classic court politics and intrigue, with multiple betrayals and backstabbing in the offing! Jaime and Brienne hooked up! Pod is still very much the Rod! The Stark girls won grim smiles from the Hound! On the other hand, they’re still struggling with the way they are telling the story they want to tell; characters die in unbelievable ways, and crucially characters then later live in completely unbelievable ways. With just two more episodes left, hopefully the Double D’s haven’t declared creative bankruptcy and we’ll get a few twists and turns that manage to please most.

Cecily and A.Ron pronounce the latest episode of FX’s American Horror Story: Apocalypse, “Could it be… Satan?” to be, in fact, a Glory Box. Full of wonders, such as gay Harry Potter fan fiction, Emma Roberts in hell, the return of hotelier James March, and a ruthless system of matriarchal oppression where men can never be Supreme! But never fear, gentlemen, because Michael Langdon is here in Satan’s service to finally free us men from female hegemony. Nema! This episode is crazy and a lot of fun. Still not getting much in the scare department, but if we can’t get that, at least give us more of this uncloseted All-American Hogwarts!
A.Ron and Jim praise and rip this episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “Some Guy”. We dug a lot of the high concept medieval horror going on, and if nothing else, Ezekiel is a particularly interesting personality to mine pathos out of in this worn out zombie apocalypse we’re stuck in. AND YET WE SMILE! Because those car chases were right out of 80’s action / comedy, Carol was kicking Savior butt and taking names, until the tragic and outrageous death of a beloved character.
