FX’s Fargo is back for it’s third season, and it’s visually exciting and is chock full of colorful characters played by gifted actors and we’re all having a lot of fun. But it’s also the exact same Fargo formula we’ve seen in the movie and in two seasons of the show. Is that a problem, and if it is, what will the series offer as a change or curveball this year, especially give that we weren’t all that thrilled with the UFO twist of season two? Aw, jeez. In the meantime, we discuss “The Law of Vacant Places”, brush up on the rules of Bridge, and make sure our air conditioners are properly secured before considering a bit of feedback. See you next week!
A.Ron takes over prediction duties this week and sets up a joke around the audio quality that may be our best to date.
In the latest episode of AMC’s Better Call Saul, the tables are turned as Jimmy becomes Mike’s private investigator as he continues to try to unravel the mysterious “DON’T” message writer. Tables are later flipped as Chuck employs his own private investigators in an elaborate scheme to unravel Jimmy. Basically, this episode is all unraveling and private eyes.

We are thrilled that HBO’s The Leftovers are back, and in fine form. Three years after the battle for Jardin is over, our favorite characters are still grappling with what to believe and what is real, with mysteries old and new. From the opening historical drama of The Great Disappointment to the enigmatic ending, it did nothing but confirm that this is one of the smartest, most beautiful shows around and that we are in for one hell of a ride. All this, feedback, and a very light spoiler section at the very end of the podcast, coming right up.

Jim and A.Ron loved the hell out of The Fate of the Furious, the eight installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. Great characters, great dialog, great action set pieces, fairly plausible and coherent plot (as far as these things go), and some just hilarious, Three Stooges type slapstick action comedy courtesy The Rock and Jason Statham. You either love these movies or have long since outgrown them, but for the people who can tune in to these kinds of demented frequencies, it’s top notch entertainment. The best F&F in years, maybe ever. Feel free to listen to our non spoiler take as well as a robust discussion of upcoming films and trailers, but if you want to hear our full spoiler filled break down of the movie, you’re going to have to be a Club Member.
Multiple-commissioner Josh from Saxapahaw, NC is back with another goodie, James Cameron’s take on the Aliens franchise. One of the all time great sci-fi action movies, it supplies nearly non stop action with a sturdy heroine to build around, lots of colorful characters to die, implacable, terrifying antagonists, and impressive effect and design work. Plus, we eulogize the late, great, Bill “Tons of Peace” Paxton. Thanks again, Josh, this was a lot of fun!
With A.Ron on vacation, I’m joined by Eric from Personal Arrogants and Direct to cover the season 3 premiere of the most effortlessly gripping show on television. We speculate about the various plans put in motion this episode and where it’s all going, the final fate of Jimmy / Saul / Gene and devise a new spin-off for the Breaking Bad universe.
