Legion - 303 – Chapter 22

Legion gave us something completely new this week (just like I was hoping it would), with the introduction of the long awaited Professor X and his backstory. It was new and different but also reflective of the series’ past, with some chilling moments, sweetness, romance, and terror. It filled in some blanks, and raised a few questions. Join A.Ron, Rima, and Jason as we explore the implications!

Legion - 302 – Chapter 21

Excited to welcome A.Ron Hubbard of Bald Move back into the fold this week, officially making this a joint Bald Move / Podcastica production. Grab your ceramic cartoon character vaporizer and let’s celebrate! P.S. This episode has us examining the nature of healthy and unhealthy relationships in a way that made me (Jason) feel like I’m being tricked into therapy. Slightly uncomfortable, yet cathartic.

Bald Move Pulp - Dark Phoenix (2019)

Jim and I went to see the latest X-Men flick, Dark Phoenix. It’s not as bad as it’s Rotten Tomatoes rating would imply, but it’s certainly not good. And it’s unfortunately because once again a classic X-Men plotline is burnt (refried, in this case) and all-time great Magneto and Professor X performances by Fassbender and MacElvoy are wasted on a script with muddled characters and paper thin villains. Long time fans of the X-Men will enjoy some great stand alone moments with their favorite characters, and the core chemistry of Xavier / Magneto / Mystique work to get the film’s emotional heart a brief jump. But ultimately the film folds underneath the weight of apathy and ugly FX  work.

Legion - 108 – Chapter 8

Jason and A.Ron wrap up a satisfying first season of FX’s Legion with a full accounting of the finale episode, “Chapter 8”. Bad guys are humanized, suave swingers hit the road, and David seems to find peace of mind and a bit of happiness… but… well, this is Legion and there is that post-credits sequence. All this plus feedback and emerging news on season two! Thanks for listening, we’ll see you next year!

Legion - 107 – Chapter 7

FX’s Legion delivers a fantastic penultimate episode with “Chapter 7”. Humor, action, character development, jaw dropping visuals, Legion managed to deliver the goods while building suspense as we head into the final episode of the first season. Plus, we got a ton more information about the identity of David’s parasite, David’s father, and Melanie’s husband Oliver. More Jemaine Clement is never a bad thing!

Legion - 106 – Chapter 6

Jim, A.Ron and Jason join in the demented group therapy happening on this week’s episode of FX’s Legion. Lenny does some James Bond vamping, David is loving his new found stability, and Syd thinks that things just aren’t… right. On this show, they never are. Also, listener feedback, and Jason treats us to another news/spoiler section at the tail end of the episode.

Legion - 105 – Chapter 5

The guys tuck into another episode of FX’s Legion, “Chapter Five”. David finds his happy place before going on a certified psychokinetic rampage, Cary reunites with his sister, Syd confesses to a very unconventional tryst, and the whole gang gets their minds’ swiped into a demented therapy session by the demon with yellow eyes. Lots to discuss! Plus feedback! And then; spoilers!

Legion - 104 – Chapter 4

Jason is still a true believer, but A.Ron and Jim are a bit wary, and weary of the “is it real or is it all in their minds??” questions that threaten to derail an otherwise engaging season of FX’s Legion. Even still, we really dug the groovy guest spot with Jemaine Clement, and are really impressed with Aubrey Plaza’s suddenly fearsome Lenny, and are intrigued with the revelations around David’s imaginary (?) pooch King.

Legion - 103 – Chapter 3

Jim, Jason and A.Ron break down another mind altering episode of FX’s Legion. In “Chapter 3”, we delve more into David’s past and childhood, explore the astral plane to check in on his sister, and get more hints and clues as to the nature and powers of the yellow-eyed demon that haunts David’s dreams.
