Watching Westworld – 210 – The Passenger

Reasonable people may disagree, but for Jim and I, the finale of  HBO’s Westworld season two, “The Passenger” failed to justify an ultimately flawed and uneven 10.5 hours of television. We’re not ready to write the show off by any means, it’s too well constructed with too much talent for that. But we can’t help but think of it as a misstep that is going to justify a lot of fans decisions to give up on the show. Next week, we’ll be back to discuss our overall thoughts on the season, and what we hope for and expect coming into season three. Please send us feedback if you want to join in on that discussion!

Game of Thrones – 210 – Valar Morghulis

Jim and A.Ron finish our retrospective re-watch of season two of HBO’s Game of Thrones with the finale, “Valar Morghulis”.  It’s a typical GoT finale, in that it does a great job of setting up the next season as something you can barely wait to arrive.  Arya could start super assassin training!  The White Walkers are marching on the Night’s Watch!  Dany’s dragons can spit fire!  We talk about these topics and a ton of last minute feedback before signing off with some spoilers for season 2 as well as debating a few lingering season 7 stuff in the secluded SpoiLore section.  See you next year!

Mr. Robot – 210 – eps2.8_h1dden_pr0cess.axx

Jim and A.Ron take on episode 210 of USA’s Mr. Robot, “eps2.8_h1dden_pr0cess.axx”. Lots, and lots of Easter eggs this week, many of them still unsolved and mysterious at the time of our podcast recording… what does it mean? A.Ron’s hot on some of the crazier Tyrell theories, and Jim remains openly skeptical of any android/cyborg connection. One thing we agree on? Phillip Price is the worst.

Better Cast Saul – 210 – Klick

We’re trying to walk a fine line here. On the one hand, we are impressed as we can be with the quality, pacing, and storytelling on display throughout season two of AMC’s “Better Call Saul”. Heck, we even really like the finale, episode 210, “Klick”. But we also have a few problems with how they’re going about doing what they do, and worry that the mounting coincidences, reliance on karmic timing and a fairly limp reveal for the finale will eventually undermine the enterprise. And we have a giant mailbag full of opinions from you and your fellow fans.

What's Cooking in Hell's Kitchen – 210 – The Man in the Box

Daredevil’s episode 210, “The Man in the Box” is a helluva episode. Featuring a magnetic confrontation between the Kingpin and Matt, a nice mystery for Karen to sink her teeth into, some creepy Children of the Corn vibes, not to mention more ninjas than you can shake a shuriken at, we’re really pleased with the shape Daredevil has rounded itself into coming down the home stretch.
