New Show News!

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the Bald Move Empire has expanded.  Actually, it’s less an empire, and more of a Coalition of the Willing to Upload Binary Audio Files That Conform to The MPEG Audio Layer III Format to the Trusty Bald Server.  But maybe a little bit of an empire.  I’m not saying we have uniforms or anything.  But we might.  And they involve black body gloves with lots of shiny white fiberglass*.

Anyway, we’d like to officially welcome Peter and Stafa’s new show, the resurrected Powerplay!  This cast is much more tightly focused on gaming and gaming culture.  If you liked it when A.Ron and Jim talked about gaming, but wanted to hear about titles that were actually released this year, or something remotely factual, you’ll love Powerplay Resurrection.

Welcome to Jhatt and Jazzy Jeff of The AMAZINGLY Pulp Show!  They cover all things comics, with a bit of music and Blue Yonder-esque randomness thrown in for good measure.  Only two shows in, I think they might be my favorite cast on the Bald Move network.   Shhh… don’t tell Jim.

Last but not least, I’d like to welcome Nan, formerly from IndyGeek, with her Daily Dose.  Nan will be brightening your day with tech news and headlines from Central Indiana and beyond.  I’m not saying she’s a massively cool geek, but she goes to GENCON and Steam Punk conventions… draw your own conclusions.  We’re super excited to be hosting her, and I look forward to seeing how she evolves the show. If all goes well, she’ll start next week, and if not, soon after.  We don’t have a feed for her just yet, but it’ll be up on the left with the others soon enough.

All the shows have their own RSS and iTune feeds so you can subscribe to the ones that tickle your fancy, cafeteria style.  Keep up with all of us through FacebookTwitter, and our forums!

Upcoming Bald Move Meetups!

Bald Move LogoFull disclosure:  we’re NOT officially affiliated with any of these events, we just think they’re cool, are going to be there, and would love to meet up, drink, game, or talk with our fans.  We might even do a few live shows!

First up: Brew-Ha-Ha! Hit up the link for details, but the upshot is downtown Indy at the Pheonix Theater, on June 25th at 3pm, you get to sample 50 different beers, enjoy great food, and enjoy some live music.  $25 pre-sale on-line, or $30 cash day of event.  What a deal!

GENCON, “the best four days in gaming”, are just that.  If you like war, board, role-playing, miniatures, collectible card, or any other type of geek gaming, you will LOVE this event.  Downtown Indianapolis gets overrun with Zombies, Stormtroopers, furries, and other assorted fun-loving freaks to get their dice on.  We’ll be there all four days, with plenty of time to game and carouse!

PAX. While GENCON might still be the best four days in gaming, Penny Arcade Expo has the best three days on lock.  PAX-East made a strong claim for best PAX earlier this year, willPAX Prime be able to retain the crown?  Seriously, if you love video games, board games, Penny-Arcade, chip-tune or geek rock, or the growing Bald Move empire, you need to be there and experience this with us.  The event is sold out, but if you want to go you can usually get tickets in the PAX forum or on craigslist.   If you’re already going, let us know, we’ll tag team Seattle.

Again, if you’re going to ANY of these three events, drop us a line, or give us a shout on Facebook or Twitter.  Our forums ain’t a bad place to coordinate either, come to think on it.  Hope to see you there!

Shawnimal Ninja Contest!

As announced in episode 44, we’re running a promotion; bring us the heads friendship of you and four other friends to our facebook page and we’ll send you a free plush ninja for your trouble.

Here’s how it works. Visit our facebook page and “like” us. Get four of your friends to do the same. Hell, they don’t even have to listen! Then send us an email saying who your friends were, what color ninja you want, and where you want the deadly assassin sent. The USPS does the rest!

Note: one ninja per five likes. So, you can cut him up, starfish style and share, or you keep it intact, for for yourself, and tell your slacker friends to find five more bodies so they can get the silent but deadly plushies too!!

Update: The black and orange ninjas have already been dispatched on their grim but adorable missions.  Only the blue and green — masters of the ancient and subtle art of time and wood magic — remain.  Are you worthy to claim their allegiance?

Tron: Legacy review – BONUS Cast

Hey guys, a bit of fresh content for your ear holes this fine post-xmas day. The entire Blue Yonder gang (including Peter!!) took in Tron:Legacy in mind-fucking IMAX3DOMFG-o-vision, and immediately returned to the newly christened (we all just peed in a corner and called it good) Bald Tower to talk about it. That’s the good news. The bad news is that there were some sound issues to overcome in the newly christened Bald Tower and poor old Tron Bonus Cast took the brunt of it.

But, hell, it’s bonus, and that’s better than nothing, right? Right? Right. Get it while it’s hot. Remember, you have to be a registered member of our forums to access bonus content.

Keep your ears peeled for another bonus cast due out this week; Jim and I doubling up on a review of True Grit.

News from the Front

Our old enemy, Personal Arrogants, fired several shots in the night.  In addition to their frontal attacks, they are recruiting desperate men, terrorists really, to launch cowardly attacks from the shadows of twitter.  Particularly barbaric attacks using crude gif imagery.

We expected no better from them.  Their words are the words of fearful children, unwilling or unable to take responsibility for their actions.

They accuse us of a surprise attack!  As if we declared war on them without provokation.  As if we, the noble Blue Yonder nation were the aggressors!  Lies!

The truth, dear listeners, is that Personal Arrogants started this conflict by depriving us of strategic supplies of podcasts during a desperate season.  Studies have shown that depression, even suicide, skyrockets during the holiday season.  And it is at this crucial time they withhold their product?  They have blood on their hands! Or at least anti-depressant medication!  We could not in good conscience stand idly by and allow these monsters to play havoc with the worlds supply of  ’casts.  If no one else would check their hand, we few, we lucky few, we band of blue yonder, would.

It is with heavy hearts indeed that we authorize the use of the following weapons, to be deployed to the field immediately.

  • Yo mama so fat, when she goes to the movies, she sits next to everyone!
  • Yo mama so fat, she goes to the restaurant, looks at the menu, and says “okay!”
  • Yo mama so fat, she has to iron her pants in the driveway with a steamroller.
  • Yo mama so fat, she’s on both sides of the family!
  • Yo mama so stupid, takes her five hours to watch 60 Minutes!
  • Yo mama so stupid, she sold her car for gas money.
  • Yo mama so stupid, she took the Pepsi challenge and chose Jif!

That’s right!  Mamas have been involved!  History will prove to be on our side; that we had no choice.  When the self-indulgent pantywaists at Personal Arrogants tried to put baby in the corner, we said no!  Hell no! We will not go quietly into that night!  We will not vanish without a fight!  We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive!

To quote one great leader who stood for the oppressed against tyranny and impossible odds, “Never give up! Never surrender!”

Feed Fixes

As you may have noticed, the feeds are down and there are no podcasts right now.  We’re working on fixing the site and it should be back up later today.  Stay tuned.

New Site, New Forums, New Format

A lot of changes here at Bald Move lately.  We migrated to new forums and a WordPress site.  Hopefully that will cut into the time it takes to get you guys an episode and we’ll be able to bring you more content.

Of course, with the good there’s also a healthy dose of bad.  The feeds are busted right now.  If you subscribe to Blue Yonder via RSS, it’s likely that you’ll have to listen on the website this week.  I’m ripping my hair out trying to fix the problem but I couldn’t say when it will be back up.

So as not to leave on a down note, I also wanted to announce that I encoded the latest episode as an enhanced aac file in addition to mp3.  It enables people with iTunes to see images and links while the episode is playing.  I’ll add it to the post later tonight along with adding the links from the enhanced version to the show notes for those people still stuck in the podcasting stone age.  Also, there will be another feed for people who want to get the enhanced version “on the regular.”

That’s it.  Hope everyone sticks around during our transition.  We’re all going to be better for the trouble.
