If you missed it, I wrote a little essay yesterday about where I see Walt, Hank, and Gus going. I’ve got some feedback that I’ll try to work into a part two / refinement sometime over the weekend.
Some good news about the deal between Sony and AMC for the fifth season of Breaking Bad, courtesy the Hollywood Reporter. “AMC Networks president and CEO Josh Sapan said Thursday that he hopes to have a new deal with producer Sony that would keep hit showBreaking Bad on his company’s AMC network “fairly soon.””
Happy birthday to Anna Gunn, who turns 43 today! Would it be weird if I sung “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to her, while all our co-workers looked on as the cake, candles, and ice cream melted? A bit, probably.
New Hank’s blog! I don’t know about these things. Do the writers consider them canonical? Or is it something an intern does to drive a little traffic. If anyone on the show reads this, I’d like to get that clarification. Maybe I’ll write in to the official cast. Because, depending if they actually “matter” in show terms, they might be dropping some big hints about the future.
For example, my read of this is that Walt isn’t anywhere on Hank’s radar for being connected to heisenburg. On the other hand, look what he says about busting Gale: “Now that I see this video of him though, I’m not sure if I could have done it. It’d be like taking Old Yeller out back with the shotgun… maybe this little nerdlinger got in too deep. He liked the science and the money until it all got away from him. Who knows?” A surprisingly sympathetic take on a nerdy drug manufacturer, no?
Regardless of whether Marie’s blog is “real” or not, it is typically full of shit. This week is no different. Marie could out front MC Frontalot. That’s a lot of fronting, folks.
This next one is fluffy, but I’m a Mike whore, so deal. Jonathan Banks got a “Cheers” out of TV Guide for his portrayal of the unflappable badass.
Jesse Pinkman made the Grantland “Top 5” for the week. “There might be no worse tenant/homeowner in the American southwest than Jesse, of Breaking Bad. ”
