Breaking Bad Season Four Wrap-up – Breaking Good

Welcome to this bittersweet episode of Breaking Good!  We are over the moon about the way the season went, but sad that we have to wait almost a year to find out what’s next for Walt and Jesse.  We reflect on our favorite moments, thoughts for next season, predictions that came true and those that flamed out, and read the final thoughts from our listeners on Breaking Bad.

Remember, this will NOT be our final Breaking Bad cast.  We’ll be back next season, and throughout the offseason with occasional news, and recaps of older episodes.  Stay tuned!  And if you’re hungering for something a bit more current, follow us on the Watching Dead, recapping AMC’s zombie-fest, The Walking Dead.

Thanks so much for all of your support this year!   Your likes, reviews, and feedback was positively overwhelming, in the best sense of the word.  If you’d like to help us keep the lights on and the servers humming during the offseason, please consider using our Amazon affiliate link (http://amazon.baldmove.com) during your holiday shopping.  It costs you nothing, and throws a small percentage of your purchases our way, so we can continue bringing you the podcast goodness.

Thanks again, and we hope to see you soon!

413 – Listener Feedback – Breaking Good

We promised a listener feedback episode this week and we delivered!  We tried to give some attention to everyone’s thoughts but even after cutting some emails for time and ONLY covering your thoughts we STILL barely brought the episode in under an hour thirty!  Seriously, the feedback is overwhelming but we love it.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to this episode and those whose feedback we just didn’t have the time to read on air.  We appreciate all of it!

One more episode to go for Breaking Good this season.  It’s the season 4 wrap-up cast so get your thoughts on this year of Breaking Bad to us via email, twitter or facebook and we’ll fit as much of it as we can into the episode.

Breaking Bad News – Thursday 10/13/11 Edition

Hello!  Welcome to the FINAL Breaking Bad News for 2011.  Maybe ever!  It was a lot of fun writing these each day, and kept me “in the Breaking Bad loop” as it were, but I also got a bit more spoilers than I was bargaining for in my daily travels, and it was a much larger sink on my time than I thought.  Especially on Wednesday and Thursdays mid-season when there just wasn’t much going on.

The AV Club wraps up it’s mega season break down with the Villigan!  Part 3 is here and part 4 is over here.

The Baylor Lariat says that Breaking Bad continues to show the dangers to meth.

Slate has the cure for Breaking Bad off season blahs… watch Vince’s many excellent episodes of The X-Files!  I’d like to add to the recommendation of the episode “Bad Blood”.  Funniest X-Files ever.

Breaking Bad News – Wednesday 10/12/11 Edition

Sorry about the lack of news post yesterday.  I took the day off work to finish painting my decks, and didn’t have time to break away.  Where we’re from the leaves are falling, and I had to paint with one hand and work the leaf blower with the other to keep stuff from sticking.  But it’s done, and now you’re up to date with the news you don’t give a shit about.  On to more shit-giving worthy items!

The AV Club has part two of their four part interview with the Villigan.  Best part is the end, when they ask him if there are things hanging out in previous seasons that are going to come back; “Yeah, definitely. The most coy way I can answer that is that there are several things that I think are still outstanding. I guess one of them that goes without saying is the dramatic engine that started this whole series, which is Walt’s cancer diagnosis.”

413 – “Face Off” – Breaking Good

Breaking Bad season four is in the books!  Last night’s episode “Face Off” capped off a remarkable story arc that has lasted over two seasons, and where it goes from here, is anyone’s guess.

In this episode, Jim and A.Ron recap the episode, analyze how the various plots and machinations resolved, talk about lose ends, and speculate a bit about what comes next for our favorite show.  We had so much thoughts by ourselves that we couldn’t get hardly any feedback in.  So, Wednesday we’re recording round 2, that features nothing but thoughts from you guys.

If you’d like to try and get your email included, please feel free to send it in to us, or share it with us on twitter or facebook.  If you’ve enjoyed the work we’ve done this season, please use ourAmazon affiliate link to buy the stuff you’re already buying, or peruse our Amazon store for DVD’s, Blurays, posters, and more Breaking Bad merch. We appreciate it!

Next week we’ll have a final Breaking Good cast until next season, but stay tuned here at our website, as we’ll be starting up our new podcast, the Watching Dead, bringing the Bald Move brand of coverage to AMC’s zombie-drama, The Walking Dead.  See you then!

Breaking Bad News – Monday – 10/10/11 Edition

There is SO MUCH news today, and I have not much time to pour over it since my day is so compressed.  So I’m mostly going to put it out there and let you people read as much / little as you like.

First off, the reviews.  The usual suspects brought their “A” game today.  Alan Sepinwall.  Melissa Maerz.  James Poniewozik.

Next, the interviews with Villigan.  Alan Sepinwall.  James Poniewozik.  Todd Vanderwerff with the AV Club (which is just part one, btw).  What strikes me most about all these interviews is the fact that Vince and company are basically “winging it”.  They had season one strongly plotted, and season two, but starting in season three they just started going with it.  That seems both exciting and terrifying.  For example, the cousins were supposed to be the big baddies in season 3, and half way through, the writers realized they couldn’t carry the whole season, so they promoted Gus into that role.  The other striking thing that hit me; not even the writers fully understand how Walt carried off the poison plot.  I’m not sure how I personally feel about that.

Jim’s Breaking Bad Instant Review – 413 – “Face Off”

Check out the Instant Podcast for Face Off!

When Crawl Space aired I thought: “Most series would have used this episode as the season cliffhanger.”  Tonight I found out why they didn’t; not only was this episode nearly (if not just) as good but they chose not to end the season in a cliffhanger at all!

Face Off left a lot of questions on the table but it also reset the playing field in a lot of respects.  Gus is dead, the Mexican cartel is destroyed and the D.E.A. doesn’t have any leads.  Walt and Jesse could both walk away at this point.  I think we’re all pretty certain that won’t happen but it’s definitely an option for them.

But enough about possible future episodes; let’s talk about Face Off.

A.Ron’s Breaking Bad Instant Review – 413 – “Face Off”

First off, have you heard our instant review in podcast form?  Now for my review…

Walt is now Scarface.

And not just because he poisoned Brock.  He also used his innocent next door neighbor as a decoy to check to see if there were any assassins skulking about his place.  And there were, and she could have just as likely got her head blown off as report all is well.  Walt was visibly relieved when she was okay, as was he when he got the news about Brock.  He doesn’t want people to die for him, but if it’s them or him, or his family.  Well…

So long Mr. Chips.

Breaking Good Instant Review – 413 – “Face Off”

Holy shit! No time for witty text, here’s Jim and A.Ron’s Instant Review of “Face Off” in podcast form!  It’s less than 15 minutes long, and sort of unusually low-key.  We were trying to be quiet since my five year old was asleep in the next room over.  :D

In about an hour, we’ll have our written instant reviews up.  Tomorrow, we do the full cast!   We love getting your thoughts, speculation, and/or feedback, so keep emailing it to us,  or share it with us on twitter or facebook.  We’ll read and use as much of it as we have time for in the cast. Our schedules are weird tomorrow, and we’ll probably cast early in the afternoon, so get your feedback to us as soon as possible if you want a chance to get it in this episode.  See ya then!

Breaking Bad News – Thursday 10/06/11 Edition

Sorry about the late post, you guys.  I got pulled into an all day meeting and didn’t get a chance to scrape the news until just now.

Bryan Cranston was interviewed on the latest episode of the WTF podcast hosted by Marc Maron.  He gives a very interesting story along with his take on Breaking Bad.

Bryan was also interviewed on the Today Show.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a few more comments from the Villigan about the season finale.  Nothing too spoilerish.
