  • My prediction for the ending of the series is Walt, in full heisenberg mode, has it out with hank over walt Jr. and reveals himself and prepares to do hank in and walt jr. shuns him, walt Sr. is stunned and returns to his senses and gives up. and then there is probably a twist where a drug connection (maybe a roge DEA Agent?) kills him.

  • Hi guys –
I’m re-watching seasons 1 – 3. I already zoomed through season 4 and thought the end of Gus was spectacular as was his back story as it was revealed to us throughout the season. I loved Gus – I loved his dead eyes and crisp clean movements. I loved the way he could switch from warm and helpful service employee to the cold and meticulous CEO of a drug empire – the absolute opposite of Walt’s ego driven, overly passionate to the point to sloppy approach to the business.
I think there will be a ton of loose ends tied up in these final episodes of Walt and Jessie’s journey – given that Villigan loves to put seemingly innocuous objects and actions as hints to future events.
One thing I noted was Skylar in one of the first few episodes gazing fondly at a picture of her and Ted and then talking to her sister about some business that went on between them during some office party. I know the cat’s out of the bag with her affair with Ted the second time she worked for his company, but I’m wondering about what you guys said Walt Jr. actually being his offspring… hmm?
when I first started listening to your podcast – I wondered what was up with the dogging on Skylar’s appearance, which the way, you guys seem to do with a lot of female characters on all your pod casts, but not the men (what’s up with that?) For every criticism you give the ladies for their physical appearance I challenge you to do the same for a guy on the show.
Example: “Geeze, Skylar just hasn’t lost the baby weight – she put on more and looks bad in those mom jeans.”
“On the other hand, Walt really needs to lose creepy pedophile shoes he has in every color it seems.”
I will agree that Skylar has changes in appearance from a younger, thinner seemingly contented pregnant woman into a slightly more made up pancaked makeup, bleached, and busty blonde. She’s certainly more severe looking, but I guess that comes from a year of living through a year of a husband with cancer dealing meth.
As for Mr. Walt… going back to the first two seasons, it is much more apparent that he was just waiting for someone to come and awaken his inner dark beast. Cancer gave Walt the excuse to break out of his meek and mild mannered science teacher shell to become the bigger badder version of himself he’s always had within him. I think that when Gretchen and Elliot took his ideas and ran (if that is what indeed happened), it was like that part of him shrunk – that the testosterone was leached from him. Now Walt has the ability to give the world and everything and everyone who has ever doubted his greatness the middle finger. This will undoubtedly lead to his great downfall as the Villigan has compared Walt to Scarface many times on the Insider podcast. The question is how will he go down? Cancer, DEA/Hank, or Jessie? I don’t think it will be whatever competition or entity that will follow Gus – it will be someone or something closer… or a combination of the aforementioned.
The big question for me is Jessie… I used to think he was just some derpy side-kick, but I see now how hard he worked. He may not have started out with the skills to make the product – but he has them now. So I guess the question is will he too choose the dark side? As far as I am concerned, Walt has already made that decision – but there’s still some hope for Jessie.
As far as the periphery – there is another entity behind Gus other than his connection to the cartel and it has to do with Madrigal – the name of the second episode this upcoming season… who knows what that will bring.
Thanks guys for a great podcast, getting me through an otherwise dull summer.

  • I listened to yalls podcast yesterday. Thanks for noting my facebook post . And thanks for putting it out. I enjoyed it immensly. I think t main reason I like them so much is that they are nigh completly exaustive. Between yalls insights and analysis and predictions and all those that you read from us fans it seems as if no stone is left unturned and no idea unconsidered.

Albeit not all of them pan out (i.e. Dead mans brew count down clock). All of them are interesting and fun to consider.

  • Sorry for breaking this into multiple posts. But I am unbelievably computer innept. And I am finding it almost impossible to get more than about eight lines in w/o huge editing difficulties.

Anyway, I do have one bone to pick of signifegence. Yall were discussing wheather yall were or were not still rooting for Walt. I understood you to say yes, but that if he killed an innocent that that would then be enuf to turn you finally into Walt haters.

  • Imo, other than Holly there has not been a charactor more innocent than Gale. And that Walt having Jessie pull t trigger actually made Walt a bigger ass, since he ruined two lives rather than just one.

I am sure you remember how effected Jessie was by this act. I didnot see any way out for him other than death sooner or later if not for t intervention by Gus. My wife has something insightful to say about Gale being killed by Jessie. She intends on posting it. I will just say other than Jessie, my two favorite charactors were Gale and Gus. And now Walt has killed them both.

  • I have been involved for some time w t drug trade. So I was more than ready to cut Walt slack for what he was doing. Bob Dylan said “To live outside t law you must be honest”.

So for three season I enjoyed BB as a story of two outlaws searching for their moral compass. And I thought Walt had t ability to have an exceptional take on this as having come to terms w his imenent death due to his cancer. This illusion was dashed when his life was threatened by Mike and Victor in “Full Measures”, and he shows how craven he really was.

    July 12, 2012

  • Now when I watch these older eps all I see is Walts craven arrogence. He is not an absolute dick, but Idt there have been more than half a dozen times when Walts actions were motivated by anything more than craven sekf intrest and collosal arrogence.

In “I See You” he admits to everyone that he is not half t man Hank was. Walt has intermitently showed great loyalty to Jessie. There have been a few other instances. But fewer than half a dozen like I said

  • Other thsn Jessie Gale and Gus have been my favorite charactors. And Walt has killed them both.

Gale is obviosly childlike and innocent. But imo Gus too was probably quit honorable. I do not know that he had any involvment in killing Brocks uncle. And everyone else he killed was a combatent who at least arguably had it coming for one reason or another

  • Walt otoh thinks nothing of endangering huge numbers of complete civilians.

My favorite ep this season was “Salud”. “Fill your pockets and leave. Or fight me and die” , was my favorite line. And this is just one ep after he brings to a draw a conflict he was engaged in w an armed sniper merely by staring at him. Gus was just beyond awesome.

  • I could go on. But instead I will quickly give my predictions.

Walt will continue being an arrogent dick. I think he will kill Hank pretty soon either to save his own skin or more likely as t result of his arrogence. From t preview it appears Walt Jr. is having a bit of hero worship regarding Hank. Walt wont stand for this.

And I think/hope that Jessie manages to kill him after Walt commits another

And I think/hope Jessie kills him when in another collosal act of hubris Walts

  • And I think/hope that Jessie manages to kill him after Walt commits another act of collosal hubris after he gloats to Jessie about both Jane and Brock.

Sorry about all t rambling and poor editing and such. I am playing hell getting my posts into t tiny box at this site.

And lastly, I am on t radio tonight. I am doing t world music show on WTUL from 8-10 CST. I will give yall a shout out since yall read my facebook post

    Thanx again

  • I love Breaking Bad and but I am new to the Breaking Good podcast (became a fan via the Mad Men Happy Hour) can anyone explain the “DEAD MAN’S BREW” references? I can’t seem to figure out what that’s all about. Thanks. And Thanks for the great podcasts!

  • I don’t have any predictions, but I do have a wish list. First and foremost I would love love love a little bit more exploration of Gus’ back story. Maybe Hank could reveal something that he found in his investigation – like Gus isn’t really from Chile or maybe he was part of the Pinochet regime or maybe his family has some connection to Don Eladio. It would be great if Giancarlo Esposito could come back to do a flashback, but that probably won’t happen. Second, I want Mark Margolis to get an Emmy nomination for his incredible work as Hector. Flawless.

And…..here is a new trailer. It was launched at Comic Con

  • As a huge Gale fan, I will attempt to explain dead mans brew. Upon first being untroduced to Gale in t superlab Walt inquires about a particular bit of apperatus that has no obviose purpose towards making meth. Gale explains that it is his particular coffee brewing process that involves particular beans and being brewed at a slight vacume so as to boil t water at a lower tempature. Walt loved Gales coffee. But had Gale killed not long after. Walt continued to enjoy dead Gales coffee for quite some time. And it was speculated that a major death would occur just as this coffeee ran out. This was a particularly interesting bit of speculation. But it turned out not to be true tho, as now wheather or not all this coffee was vonsumed or not, now t entire lab has been destroyed along w coffee and apperatus.

I hope this is not too unreadable as my typing is quite lame.

  • (Michele here;Babrock’s old lady) I just wanted to let y’all know that we did indeed give a ‘shout out’ to our fave podcast on Babrock’s World Music Show: he posed the general question ‘Any of y’all been watching BB’?,then

    babrock

    July 15, 2012

  • …plugged the show in general a bit. THEN the BG plug, with link info—then he tied it togther by playing Badar Ali Khan, and explaining that ‘this is Gale music, tho not the same exact song’played on the show—which I thought was pretty smart on his part. (The station didn’t seem to have the song on hand. It’s callled ‘Black Night’,for those who wondered. And,yeah,Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is his cousin.) The station is WTUL,91.5 FM—colleve radio in New Orleans.

  • I am back, Babrock. My wife cant yet post on this site as she hasnot gorren herself proccessed yet w t new password. So untill she does that she is using mine.

Anyway a few minor points I want to make. Minor spoiler here; we get a quick flash of t guy who disapeared their RV back in “Sunset”, I think, talking w Walt, Jessie, Mike, and a couple oteher unknowns near a couple railroad cars.

    babrock

    July 15, 2012

  • Also, Mike. I dont see any reasonable way for his arc to procced. We here him say “You are a timebomb about to go off. And I dont wanna be around when it happens”.

Yes. Not only yes. But Mike is smart enuf to know this. Unless he needs to buy a kidney for his granddaughter, there is no excuse for Mike not to see that soon enuf he will die if he continues his relations w Walt. I like Mike as well as other BB fan as does Villigan, I am sure. But a major reason we like him is he is smart. And sticking w Walt is anything but. This is an unresolvable dilema imo, unless he needs that kidney.

    babrock

    July 15, 2012

  • And here is a thing or two on spoilers. You mentioned how you dont broadcast predictions that seem too prescient to be believed w/o having read a spoiler. Does this mean that you do read spoilers so that you will then know which fan predictions are too acurate? If so, yall are due even more gratitude for making that sacrifice on t part of us fans.

And, couldnt this be a major problem w them breaking up t series into two seasons. If all sixteen eps are shot together, how are they going to keep all that under wraps. Or are they going to shoot it as two completly seperate seasons?

    July 15, 2012

  • Thanks Babrock, I was thinking Dead Man’s Brew had something to do with Hank’s home beer brewing so I was very confused. Thanks for clearing it up.

    @MTW6

    July 15, 2012

  • It being Hanks home brew is not a bad guess at all, esp as it does look like Walt is going to definetly die soon.
