208 – “The Prince of Winterfell” – The Night’s Watch
This week we cover episode 208 of Game of Thrones, “The Prince of Winterfell”. We had a rough go this week, as schedules prevented us from hooking up and we had to suffer through a skype cast. We apologize in advance for the poorer than usual audio-quality, which I hope isn’t too big of a turn off. We discuss the Lord of Bones and Masters of the Universe, what we think of Cersei’s gambits, Jeyne Talisa Hot Nurse Girl, Brienne and Jamie’s road show, Cat’s treachery, and the finer points of siege warfare.

Love the podcast, but I gotta comment on the Cersei teaching Sansa thing. (I’ve read all the books, but haven’t had problems with most changes to the show.)
I don’t get people’s adverse reactions to it. Yes Cersei is a villain in the books and the show, but she’s not a total idiot. Sure they pressured Sansa into writing her letter and they intimidate her into being loyal to them, but as long as she knows her place there is no reason to be vicious to her on Cersei’s part.
The whole point of keeping her is they plan to marry her to Joffrey. The whole point is that Sansa is a is going to be queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
She is the a piece on the Lannister side of the board that will allow them to maintain control after the war is over. If they win, the North has a major reason to fall in line since a Stark be married to the king, and they will have little reason to regroup and begin a rebellion once again.
There is every reason for Cersei to give Sansa a bit of advice from time to time to let her know that things aren’t all bad, and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for her.
