312 – “Coalition” – Justified
A pretty satisfying lead up to the finale that is marred only by a cleverly camouflaged but ultimately implausible escape attempt that involved opening up a kimono a little too much for everyone’s comfort. Quarles, Boyd, Limehouse, Dickie, and Raylan are all on a collision course. Who’s going to survive? We’ll find out next week, but until then, enjoy our recap, listener feedback, and a less useless than usual spoiler section, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Finally, I can turn the tables and complain about pronunciation!
Derringer is pronounced with a “soft” ‘g’ like ‘messenger’. I believe Quarrels says the pistol is a .32 ACP, but it’s actually an ECOL Tuna that only fires 8mm blanks: http://www.army-store.net/zbrane/plynova-pistole-ekol-tuna-nikl-cal-8-mm-knall (but not a Derringer). The harness that holds it is often referred to a “sleeve gun” or a “Taxi Driver sleeve/slide gun” (as made famous by R. De Niro). They’re usually built with hardware from drawer slides.

Just now finishing the cast, Dickie was pulling on Raylan when Givens shot him. I also don’t think Raylan gave a shit about the forensics of which direction the window was busted, he was setting up Dickie to draw on him.
