208 – “Nebraska” – Watching Dead

Watching Dead is back!  Jim and A.Ron have tons to discuss with the return of our favorite zombie themed drama, The Walking Dead, from it’s mid-season hiatus.  Find out what we think about small-farm politics, Philly fans, zombie bonfires, who’s jockeying for position of “Most Useless” survivor, and lots more.

IMPORTANT: We dish some MASSIVE episode 12 and 13 spoilers in the spoiler section of our cast.  As always, these babies are safely cordoned off into the spoiler section of our show, but remember, if you don’t want to hear them, stop playback when you hear our theme song after the show.  If you listen past that, it’s all on you!

As always, if you like what we do, give us a shout out!  You can emailTweet, orFacebook us.  Give us some lovin’ by leaving us an iTunes review and especially by using our Amazon affiliate link for any and all of your Amazon shopping needs.  Remember, it costs you nothing, and sends a little “sumpin’ sumpin‘” our way.  Win/win!

  • Here’s why I hate this show:

They decide they need Hershel to help the girl who is in shock. Rick and Glenn go to get him. They’ve barely been gone an hour when Andrea has a brilliant idea: “Hey, we should get Hershel!” Wow! Why didn’t anyone think of that before? Lori says “You know, that’s a good idea. Of course Rick and Glenn are already doing just that, and I told them it was a horrible idea, but now I’m going to go get Hershel too. They’re competent and armed and I’m damn near useless and pregnant, but this is surely the prudent thing to do. Please do not come with me, Andrea, as you are experienced with a firearm. It’s better that I go alone with my little pistol. Make sure to look after my son while I’m gone so that if anything happens he will have no parents at all.” And she then flips her car.

Having to go rescue Lori is not NEARLY an interesting enough plot point to justify the ridiculous build up necessary to put her in danger.

Not to mention that when they do find Hershel, he’s sitting alone in what appears to be the set of a Hallmark Hall Of Fame production of a late 1800s period piece. All because he was reminded of the existence of alcohol when he found his old flask.

However, credit where credit is due, it was pretty cool when Rick shot the two guys.

CRAPPY WRITERS!!!!!! They have a world filled with zombies, and the best thing they can think to do is have the characters stuck on some ridiculous 1860s farm with no zombies. Nothing ever friggin happens in this show! They walk around in circles, argue about the same crap, and do things that no sane human being would ever do. You can practically see the characters kicking and screaming as the writers drag them through the mud. I was almost done with this show but the last episode before the break was so good, I came back. Now I wish I hadn’t.

I just got done watching all of Sons Of Anarchy in a row. Throughout all 4 seasons, I said “Uh, I don’t quite buy that” less than I do in one episode of this crap. More happens in one episode of SoA, even a slow episode, than happens in a whole half a season of TWD.

  • You’re spot on about Lori. What an idiot! If she made an intelligent decision once in a while, maybe we could overlook the occasional idiocy but all she ever seems to do is get herself and everyone else into trouble. Now someone’s surely going to have to save her.

  • Here is what i think may happen: Okay so there a couple things i want to address first – Shane will most likely die / Carl wants to name the baby Sophia/ Maggie and Glen adopt the original Sophia in the comics. Here’s what i think will happen, Lori will die next season AFTER having the baby leaving Rick with a baby that is not his. I think this could be an homage/ fulfillment of the comics by having Glen and Maggie adopt the Shane and Lori lovechild. Just a thought! Let me know what you think!
