202 – “Bloodletting” – The Watching Dead
If you hated our negativity on the first cast but stuck with us, good news! We liked the second episode much, much better. I’d say that is because objectively this episode was much, much better, but hey, that’s me.

I have mixed feelings on Shane’s attempted raping of Lori.
I didn’t really get the feeling like Shane even remotely went into that situation thinking that he’d take her by force if needs be.
To me, it felt as though he’s just a completely frustrated, desperate man that has been forced into a position in which the only love he has left in his life is no longer a viable option – yet, she’s right there in front of him in a world with no other viable options (aside from people in their group as far as they know.. So, Andrea?).
So, I feel as though it was terrible, yes, but that he can still pull off the ‘generally good guy’ thing.
I’m just saying… Walt with his pseudo-raping of the green-faced Skyler in BrBa was far more abhorrent – and we all still empathized with him after the fact.

(Second comment on this site, whoo~) On Lori being “emotionally messed up” and wanting Rick to get angry at her… I’ve never read the comics, but I suspected from the pilot episode (from when Rick and Shane were talking in the car) that Lori and Shane were having an affair, and Lori’s complaint in this episode has me thinking that at the very least, she was already emotionally cheating on Rick. It’s natural for a woman to want her husband to express himself more. But being angry that he’s not angry at her? That isn’t just guilt; that’s her realizing she gave herself away somehow and wanting the relief of him getting angry or being jealous. I’m thinking maybe some flirting gone too far or, as ep 2.12 has shown, maybe Shane had gone ahead of Rick in fixing some plumbing problem, demonstrating prowess where Rick was insufficient or unavailable (a chronic problem for the guy who tries to save everyone else before attending to his own family).
