Walking Dead Survival Review for 202 “Bloodletting”
Hello, fellow surviors! Here is this week’s belated survival review.
Scenario 1: Co-host of the Watching Dead promises weekly column on Friday, doesn’t deliver until Monday morning.
What Jim did: Said, “That’s okay, just get it out whenever.”
What Jim should have done: Punched A.Ron in the dick and screamed “NEXT TIME IT’S GOING TO BE TO YOUR WINDPIPE, FOOL!!” Mea, culpa. I will not fail you guys again!
Scenario 2: Dale and T-Dog are fake repairing the RV, once again. Once again, no one is keeping any sort of lookout even though LAST EPISODE A HUNDRED WALKERS SNUCK UP ON THEM AND ALMOST ATE THEM ALL FOR LUNCH. SERIOUSLY! IT HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY YOU GODDAMN IDIOTS!
A.Ron’s Walking Dead Review – “Save The Last One” – 203
First off, I decided to re-watch episodes 101-103 this weekend. Maybe having these recently in memory gave me new insights into the characters; but I’m really digging what they’re doing with Shane.
AMC’s gimmick seems to be “head shave” = “bad guy”, but I wonder about Shane. Did he do what he did because he thought it was Carl’s best chance to get the supplies he needed? Or because he knew he could only make it if Otis didn’t and it was a selfish descion? In other words, are we really seeing Shane become the bad guy, or is this just a display of pragmatic survival? Maybe a little bit of both? Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty despicable either way, but it’s more along the lines of “let Jane choke” evil rather than “shoot an ‘innocent’ man in the face” evil, to put in Breaking Bad terms.
And what is the connection between Shane’s actions and Rick’s story about them as kids? I felt like it should have been obvious, but maybe I’m just slow.

If you hated our negativity on the first cast but stuck with us, good news! We liked the second episode much, much better. I’d say that is because objectively this episode was much, much better, but hey, that’s me.

Why The Walking Dead Hasn’t Appeased the Zombie Fanboys
My love of zombies has always been based on the logistics of surviving an apocalypse. I love to discuss it with my friends, figure out the best weapons, vehicles, terrain and general strategies for defeating the inevitable zombie invasion. I know I’m not alone in doing that. Zombie fanatics all over the world debate every single day about the best survival option for each possible zombie scenario. There are websites, books, films
, games and television series’
dedicated to it. And the zombie fanboys take this stuff very seriously!
A.Ron’s Instant Walking Dead Review – 202 – “Bloodletting”
Now that’s The Walking Dead I know and love, NOT The Walking Dead that is annoying and I have a love/hate relationship with. If you want to know why Jim and I were so hard on the show last week, it’s because we know it is capable of generating this level of drama and tension, and when it falls short, it is profoundly disappointing.
Tonight we found characters behaving in consistent, believable ways, with clear goals of primary importance, making tough calls and doing what it takes to survive.
As a father of a little boy, a lot of this episode was nightmare fuel for me. Literally, in some cases; I’ve had a few nightmares where my physical strength or stamina is required to save someone I love and I just can’t hang on or run anymore. I thought Andrew Lincoln did a fantastic job of portreying that strain and struggle, and between that and the bookmarking (and incredibly dramatically effective scene of Lori having to break the news that Carl’s daddy had been shot) I don’t think my stomach unclenched from the show opening until the credits ran.
A.Ron’s Walking Dead Survival Review for 201 “What Lies Ahead”
Hey there! This is the first in a series of posts that will take a light hearted look at how our intrepid band of survivors deals with their problems in a USA overrun by zombies, as opposed to how they should have dealt with them.
Scenario 1: Lori complains about the morality of looting a traffic jam full of corpses.
What the survivors did: Listen to the Lori’s complaint. Then looted somewhat guiltily at first until sheer joy of discovery of water and weapons overrode their survivor’s guilt.
What the survivors should have done: Smack the taste out of Lori’s mouth. Proceed to loot gleefully. Come on folks, this is the kind of crap that leads to your entire camp sitting around a fire holding hands and listening to the RV guy tell stories about time and watches while half the survivors get eaten by zombies. You all need to swallow a bag of cement and get hard, yesterday.
412 – Jersey Shorecast – “Ciao, Italia”
The finale of the Jersey Shorecast is coming at you! This week’s episode features Vinnie modeling bras, Paulie D being a standup guy, Mike being a shit weasel, and meatballs being meatballs. It also features the very last Tricky/AK47 duet of the season.
If you like what we do, hate it, want to blow us up, whatever, email us at shorecast@baldmove.com. You can shout out to Tricky directly @Shore4Cast on Twitter. We’d really appreciate your iTunes reviews, love or hate. See ya next season!

201 – “What Lies Ahead” – The Watching Dead
Welcome to the first episode of The Watching Dead, the officially unofficial fan podcast of AMC’s The Walking Dead. I’ll be up front, if you’re a big fan of the show, buckle up, because we’re fairly critical of what we feel is a very uneven episode. There is a lot to like, but a lot of head scratchers and WTF moments, too.
Now that we’re spinning up our second show, we could really use your support on iTunes! If you like what we’re doing, please give us a five star review and consider subscribing, this helps us out in the rankings and expands us to new listeners! Breaking Bad Season Four Wrap-up – Breaking Good
Welcome to this bittersweet episode of Breaking Good! We are over the moon about the way the season went, but sad that we have to wait almost a year to find out what’s next for Walt and Jesse. We reflect on our favorite moments, thoughts for next season, predictions that came true and those that flamed out, and read the final thoughts from our listeners on Breaking Bad.
Remember, this will NOT be our final Breaking Bad cast. We’ll be back next season, and throughout the offseason with occasional news, and recaps of older episodes. Stay tuned! And if you’re hungering for something a bit more current, follow us on the Watching Dead, recapping AMC’s zombie-fest, The Walking Dead.
Thanks so much for all of your support this year! Your likes, reviews, and feedback was positively overwhelming, in the best sense of the word. If you’d like to help us keep the lights on and the servers humming during the offseason, please consider using our Amazon affiliate link (http://amazon.baldmove.com) during your holiday shopping. It costs you nothing, and throws a small percentage of your purchases our way, so we can continue bringing you the podcast goodness.
Thanks again, and we hope to see you soon!

A.Ron’s Instant Walking Dead Review – 201 – “What Lies Ahead”
Hey guys! New show, new format. I’m going to do the instant review, and Jim and I will be doing original content twice or thrice a week. We’ll record the podcast and release it probably Tuesdays.
So, Season Two premier. I liked it. Still not quite as good as the pilot episode, but had some effective scenes and emotion.
I think I detected a theme of choice and taking choices. Dale took Andrea’s choice to die away. Dale took her gun. Dale takes the choice to leave the little girl behind away from the group.
Personally, I don’t think Andrea has a point. Dale didn’t try to stop her. He just said he didn’t want to live if she didn’t. How did he take her choice away when you could just as easily argue that she took her choice away?
