Jersey Shorecast – 409 – “Three Girls and a Snooki”

Sorry we missed last week!  That’s the problem with working with rookie podcasters… Actually, I had my 5 year old over, and our recording process is not kid-friendly, to say the least.

MTV describes the episode thusly:  ”Snooki is devastated over her big fight with Jionni, and decides to take a break from the relationship. Mike thinks it’s finally his chance to win her over, but it’s someone else who ends up comforting her. Meanwhile, Deena has a pregnancy scare.”  We say: “WTF?”

A.Ron ponders whether Snooki has real, recognizable human emotions, Charismatic asserts her authority, and Nicky laws down the law.  Vinnie sexually assaults Deena, Snooki sexually assaults half of Italy, and no charges are filed.  Deena gets hysterically pregnant, Mike swoops in on Snooki, but Vinnie’s the one that scores.

Breaking Bad News – Friday 09/30/11 Edition

Well folks, I tried to get A.Ron to come out from under the house for today’s Breaking Bad News but he just couldn’t stop laughing.  At what?  I really have no idea.  I mean, how was I to know he wouldn’t want me to give all his money to Fox so they could continue producing American Idol?  So what if I slept with Randy Jackson?  I only did it cause A.Ron was making podcasts without me.  What other choice did I have?

Anyway, that means until A.Ron calms down, Jim Jones is on the news!

The first thing I wanted to show you was this article from Science 2.0 which asks the question: “Has Breaking Bad made the reputation of chemistry worse?”  Go ahead and do a little word association.  Chemistry – what’s the first word that pops into your head?  Well, I really thought the article’s author had hit the sauce a bit too hard until they listed the “terms most people associate with chemistry: poisons, toxins, chemical warfare, alchemy, sorcery, pollution, and mad scientists” and my word matched up.  Is there a negative public perception of chemistry?  Voice your opinion in the comments section.

How about some positive news?  Bryan Cranston is raising awareness about asthma in this PSA.  His next one?  The dangers of smoking ricin.

Apparently Madrigal Electromotive is making a PR push with a new blog that sprung up this month.  Looks like Barry Goodman is behind this one as well.  I’ve gotta give him props for weaving himself into the mythos of Breaking Bad as much as he has.  The article I linked to is about ricin and it’s actually quite interesting and informative.

That’s it for today’s news.  I’ll force A.Ron out of the crawlspace over the weekend so he can get back to the news on Monday.  Until then, send your feedback for last week’s show to us via email, Twitter and Facebook.

Breaking Bad News – Thursday 09/29/11 Edition

The newest IMDB exclusive preview for 412 “End Times” is up.  This looks to be the dialog that lead up the the AMC sneak peek released Monday.   Pretty intense stuff!

Here’s a golden opportunity to ask The Villigan your questions about Breaking Bad!  He’s going to be answering them after the finale episode.

Dean Norris has been keeping busy with the guest star roles of late.  This time he’s going to be in CBS’ The Mentalist, playing… wait for it… a narcotics unit leader.

That’s it for today.  Email usTweet at uslike us on Facebook, we read and love it all.  It really keeps us and the podcast humming.  If you want to show your support, we always appreciate iTunes reviews/subscriptions, and your participation in our Amazon affiliate program.

Breaking Bad News – Wednesday 09/28/11 Edition

I apologize in advance for the terse nature of the post.  I’m in an incredible time crunch at work today and had my lunch cut short, so I’m flying through these.

I do want to take some extra time to shine a light on the plight of Patrick.  Patrick is deaf, a brand new Breaking Bad fan, was plowing through the series on Netflix, only to find out that the finale of season one wasn’t subtitled!  This, despite Netflix advertising it as a series with full captioning.  My next door neighbors growing up had a deaf son, and we were good friends.  Imagine if you were watching Breaking Bad this weekend, and the sound was turned off, with no way to turn it on.  How pissed would you be?  If you have Netflix, and a free moment, consider calling their customer support line at 1-866-716-0414 to let them know how you feel, since Patrick cannot, and they have eliminated email support.

Breaking Bad News – Tuesday 09/27/11 Edition

In case you missed it, our podcast came out late last night.  It’s a marathon, clocking in at 1:47, but everybody wanted to talk in this episode, not the least of which was Jim and I.

A bit of meta-news for the world of BrBa, this article from Forbes talking about the health of AMC.  While their stocks are up, the report is pessimestic about them spending money on their original programming and is concerned about the impact Netflix is having on non-sports channels.

411 – “Crawl Space” – Breaking Good

Great Odin’s raven, that was a good episode.  It took me and Jim quite a while to work our way through it, and then you all weighed in.  This is a beefy cast.  Chew slowly, savor the episode, let it take time to digest.

First, we ask your help getting our officially unofficial cast nominated for the People’s Choice Podcast Awards.  You guys always come through for us, and we’d appreciate you taking the time.

Then we dig straight in.  We talk about tongue shots, scales balancing, Walt’s face, Gus’s possible man crush on Jesse, Ted’s dumb, smarmy ass, a bridge too far for Tio, Hank’s suspicious mind, Carnivore’s performance problems, Walt begging, twice, badass Volvo station wagons, Breaking Bad’s OCD obsession with cleanliness, and Walt getting low.

Then we consider your fine feedback, and consider some brief spoilers for the rest of the season.

Thanks for your continuing support on iTunes!  Your reviews and subscriptions keep us up in the rankings and expands us to new listeners!  If you’d like to help support our cast, please use ourAmazon affiliate link to buy the stuff you’re already buying, or peruse our Amazon store for DVD’s, Blurays, posters, and more Breaking Bad merch.  We love getting your thoughts, speculation, and/or feedback, and try our level best to get as much of these in to our cast as possible, so keep emailing it to us,  or share it with us on twitter or facebook.  One of these week’s we won’t be able to get to it all, but if that ever happens, we will at the very least personally respond  to you.   Next week is “End Times”, but you don’t have to wait for then to come back, because I’ll be posting news every day around noon EST.  Thanks again for listening!

Breaking Bad News – Monday 09/26/11

Reviews!  First of all, don’t miss me and Jim’s review.  Mine is here, and Jim’s is over there.

I’m putting Melissa Maerz up top, because of this fantastic theory I haven’t personally seen elsewhere:  Gus is interested in Jesse as a lover.  ”He seems to care more about Jesse. “You need protection, Gustavo?” the doctor asks him, right before Gus leaves to go back to the U.S., and Gus laughs. Looking at Jesse, the doctor says, “I wouldn’t have guessed.” Now, he could just be joking that skinny, black-eyed Jesse is an unlikely bodyguard for Gus. But there’s also a wink hidden in that comment, as if the doctor’s implying that Jesse’s only been spared for two reasons: he’s the chemist, and Gus might want to be his lover.”  Obviously you have to buy into the theory that Gus is gay for this to make sense, but if you combine that with the cryptic “I think I see things in people”… I’m intrigued.

A.Ron’s Breaking Bad Instant Review – “Crawl Space” – 411

Looking for Jim’s take?

Wow.  Like I mentioned over on Facebook, this season hasn’t turned out anything like I expected.  When we saw the season 4 promos, with it’s growling announcer guy stating “Walter White has always been the one in danger.  Now he IS the danger,” I had visions of badass Heisenburg running around, killing cartel members, outwitting Gus, bedding women, smoking fine cigars and dressing like an extremely upscale pimp.

Instead, Gilligan (no Villigan just for tonight.  Respect) offers us up a deconstruction, or perhaps de-evolution of Heisenburg back to Mr. White.   And as for Jesse, yes, the student has become the master, but the master has also become the student.

Jim’s Breaking Bad Instant Review – “Crawl Space” – 411

Looking for A.Ron’s take?

Let me start this review off by quoting every single person on my Twitter feed: “Holy Shit!  Holy Shit!  Holy Shit!”

To be honest, I was a little worried about the way this episode started out.  With only 2 episodes left until the finale, I was worried to see Jesse taking sides with Walt when he talked to Gus and vice versa in Walt’s presence.  I was also worried when Walt panicked and purposely wrecked his trusty Aztek and then decided that he needed to get his family out of dodge.  This didn’t seem like the actions of a man who would say “I’m the one who knocks” just a few short episodes ago.  Of course I should have known better than to worry with Villigan on the case.

Breaking Bad News – Friday 09/23/11 Edition

So, Betsy Brandt got cast in a movie about a male stripper.  Breaking Good is not exactly the movie’s core audience, but maybe some of you will get excited by it.  It’s a Soderbergh joint, so it’s got that going for it.

Time for Funny Pic Friday!  This week’s entry is an inspired bit of marketing by some local pizzeria   If you don’t smile at the main course, surely Meth-Ham-Feta-Bean will get a chuckle?

Pretty dry around these parts on Fridays.  Can’t wait to see how things shake out on this weekend’s “Crawl Space”!  Thanks for all the emailsTweets, and Facebook feedback we’ve got so far.  Keep it coming!  To help support us, please tell a friend about our show, give us a positive iTunes review, or participate in ourAmazon affiliate program, now with a catchy new URL: amazon.baldmove.com. If you going to shop at Amazon anyway, why not use our link?  It costs you nothing, and gives us a little something to keep the show’s bits flowing on the internet.  Thanks again for all your support!
